I have a very early 991.1 C2S which will be 15 years old in Dec 2026 so I will be renewing the Porsche Warranty in December for the last time and for only 12 months. What do I do then? I am a serial warrantee ( other cars, central heating, dishwasher, pet, etc!) so I must have a full warranty in place. What do other members do please? Thank you

Extended Warranty After 15 Years?

My experience of the Porsche warranty is it’s not worth the paper it’s written on if your car is over 5years old, due to the wording in the small print, and that goes for most warranty companies, they all use clever wording to get them out of paying.
Porsche say it’s not covered if it’s subjected to outside influences ie salt, water ingress, frost, pretty much everything other than engine and gearbox internal components .
I decided to put 1k aside every year and build up my own warranty money pot.

My 981S which is 12 years old is covered by Porsche's warranty and in 18 months, I have had the passenger door lock and both PADM mounts replaced under warranty with no questions asked. I will be definitely extending the warranty when it runs out in December.

I didn't have any problem getting an 8-year old 981 control arm replaced under the Porsche Approved Warranty. On my previous 981 which I had for >8 years I self-funded and got stung with an electric power steering failure which was £2500k+. That worked out about evens but I was glad I didn't have any PADM failures or a PDK!My experience of the Porsche warranty is it’s not worth the paper it’s written on if your car is over 5years old, due to the wording in the small print, and that goes for most warranty companies, they all use clever wording to get them out of paying.

My 2014 981BGTS had both PADM units replaced under warranty when it was more than 5 years old. That was about £3k worth of work at the OPC. My 2015 991 GTS had a thermostat replaced under warranty when it was 8 years old. In both cases there were no questions asked and the work was done without hesitation. The latter car is of an age where its PADM units may also fail although they haven’t yet. If they do then that’s several thousands of £’s of work right there. My experience of the Porsche warranty is it’s not worth the paper it’s written on if your car is over 5years old, due to the wording in the small print, and that goes for most warranty companies, they all use clever wording to get them out of paying.
