Deposit placed for a 991 Gen2 4S

I decided yesterday to place a deposit for a new 991 4S which has a 6 month built time, should be ready before the car tax rise in April. The mileage of my 18 month old 991 4GTS is now over 16K and by the time the new delivery I expect it will be around 20K. I know it will be a different car to my GTS, which I love and can’t resist driving. I understand the GTS’s are holding their values due to the availability and expect one day will demand premium prices. With no firm dates for the new 991 GTS, I thought I will go for the 991 4S,

I have decided to keep the same colour Carrera white with black glass sliding roof and satin black wheels. I might go for the red leather interior this time. It will be a PDK with sports Chrono and sports exhaust, but I don’t think I will go for the rear steering and the PDDC since I don’t push it too hard.

Good choice Huw, love the red leather with white, the new m/f GT steering wheel is a worthwhile option too. As you have the 4 rather than the 2, which I have, you're probably right not to overload with PDDC and RWS as well.




 
It is a long time to wait 6 months Peter, hopefully it will be worth it without regrets. I am sure there will be a few tweaks along the way with the configuration.
 
Great move. Placed my deposit mid August for February delivery but my dealer called a couple weeks later to confirm an October build slot for November delivery! Don't think they are selling as many C4S's as CS's so hopefully you'll get some news. Did you haggle hard?
 
On the subject of haggling, what is the expectation of negotiating a discount/fair price on a new order for a 991.2 C2...? I'd be trading in a 2013 62 plate 991.1 C2 currently on around 26k miles.

My experience was a tricky one. With nothing to trade in and multiple visits to several OPCs, I went from £0 discount to just under 3%. No discount on the car but haggled hard for options @ dealer cost. They are clearly all highly trained negotiators!
 
Ah, thank you. That's interesting. So they didn't discount the list price of the new car, but allowed you discount on the dealer supplied extras and insurances to the tune of the equivalent to 3% of the list price of the new 911?

 
That's right. My strategy was to be clear on what I wanted but to remain on the fence on a couple of options (which I would def. want). I then left it to the dealer to drill down to these particulars and then let them 'push me over the fence' with the options as the incentive [;)]

I do fancy the rear wheel option but not the pddc. What do you think of the rear wheel steering Peter. I have asked to go to Silverstone to try out.

Living in your neck of the woods, I would certainly take a second look at PDDC, because the system it's as much about providing passenger comfort as improving chassis performance. [;)]

All these extras amount up Clive, I have been booked for demonstration of different option at Silverstone in November.
