Delivery Woes

Hi there,

I placed an order for a Guards Red C2S this week (not a particularly high spec - Manual with Sports Chrono pack, Glass Sunroof, Sport Plus Seats, Sport Exhaust, PASM Sports Suspension, LED PDLSP, Park Assist with 360 camera, BOSE).

I've been informed by my OPC that I can expect to wait until Q3/Q4 2022 for it, which I feel isn't too bad.

Additional delays at both ports are adding to the production delays many of us have been putting up with. Recently when I asked my OPC whether factory collection would be reinstated anytime soon the response was a definite NO. Issues around parts being fitted at ports does not seem to be an issue with US cars as American customers are still able to fly over to Germany and use their cars for 10 days prior to it being shipped home. So is the reason for no factory collections for UK bound cars one of insurance that I have seen mentioned? If so has anyone managed to find insurance that will cover bringing a car from the factory to the UK on temporary German plates? Or are there more complex import regulations around tax or type approval that apply now we are out of the EU?

Does anyone have any further insight into the dock delays? My build completed over 3 weeks ago and it’s been stuck at Emden ever since.

I know this isn’t unusual, but I had been told by my OPC the delays were in the UK with a lack of transporter drivers available. Should I expect a similar delay this side?

Must say I’m not massively thrilled at the thought of my car sat on a quayside for weeks on end with all that salt air…
