Delivery Woes

From what I'm hearing its the likes of auto wiper sensor, a second key and the electric steering column adjustment.

Sorry I don't know for certain. Most cars seem to be coming with one key and my OPC has mentioned electric steering adjustment and some options that rely on micro chips to function. I have nothing more precise than that. I hope my car will be complete and I think the OPC was just warning me that some things may be missing but I will still have to pay for to try and avoid an argument come invoice time. They say they don't know the situation with a particular car until they get it unless there is batch of cars with the same problem in which case Porsche issues some kind of statement to warn the dealers. If its just a few cars affected they apparently just deliver the incomplete car with a promise to retrofit later

Interesting times then. It's not only Porsche though, I know a couple of guys who have the new BMW M3 and M4 on order, and their cars have been delayed due to certain options and parts too.

Unfortunately my shipping woes continue. 3 weeks after it left the factory the car has still not reached the shipping port in Germany. My OPC kindly spoke to Porsche GB who explained there had been some kind of shipping block (?) which they assured has now been lifted so the car will be moving soon. My OPC hopes to have the car on his premises by mid October some 3 months later than originally indicated when the car was ordered

Chased my OPC again today for my weekly delay update. My car which left the factory on the 8th September has just reached Emden so that is 4 weeks for what normally takes a few days. My OPC now says I should allow another 3 weeks for it to reach them and they will do their utmost to get it on the road by the end of the month. Pre these problems it used to take around 2 weeks from factory to OPC in my case it seems it will be almost 2 months

Hi Bob

The delays seem to be across the whole range of models. If our Boxster is delayed much longer they will need to change its name. :ROFLMAO: The sorry tale is set out here. The last I heard was a week or so ago when it was trying to make its way to Emden; I get the impression that the dealers are given very little information and don't know much more than we do.

And there are no transport issues in the EU, according to the press [8|]

Surprisingly, I'm seeing a lot of vids appearing online of people taking delivery of their 992 GT3's, so as someone said earlier it appears to be they are prioritising the newer models.

hi guys I’d like to give everyone some hope…. reading the thread it looks like I’ve been one of the lucky ones as I locked my spec in July for a September build which went ahead on plan, was shipped to Emden within a few days, sailed to Sheerness and then got transported to my OPC. They had 6 cars delivered at the same time. I signed it all off last weekend and just picked up from the detailer.

I also was party to the new Porsche GB tracking portal later stages giving me updates on progress (factory build photo attached). All options are present and correct even 2 keys!

My OPC has been very good but I know I’ve been lucky as they have had other cars held up / missing stuff. I think it really is a lottery but only partly linked to model and spec I suspect.

photos to follow shortly ??

That's good news Jeffers and congratulations on your new 992 Targa 4S. As you say, it gives hope to those who have orders.

Just taken delivery of my 911, ordered in May, final Spec June and build July for Sept 1st delivery. Well worth the wait but came only with one key at present. Dealer kept me informed all the way through the process so no complaints.

That's great and congratulations. Did you get someone's cancelled allocation as that is an amazing turnaround from ordering to delivery?

Looks like I have been very unlucky then.
My 911 Cab was ordered in February for July build, left factory on 8th September (CP8), made it to Emden on 6th October, arrived in Sheerness 14th October. OPC still has no idea when he will get the car but still hopes before end of month. All seems very random and disorganised and very un Porsche like

Well done only 6 weeks delay is a great result

I hope it shows progress soon Nick. I agree the dealers know very little and vary enormously in their helpfulness or otherwise

I had an interesting chat with a salesperson from our local PC over lunch during our Demonstrator Drive day today. He said cars are not turning up with unexpected items of spec missing. He said they are informed if specific items are unavailable and the customer is then given the opportunity to revise the spec or wait until the items are available. They had received a large delivery today.

My 992 GT3 was ordered 11th May, completed production 25th August, arrived OPC 15th September but with only 1 key and a Macan handbook[:-], collected 1st October.[:)] Mine is a MY22 car so it has the very latest PCM which is the same as fitted to Taycan and now 992s from July build. The paper handbook is not yet available and the Macan handbook was about as much use as a chocolate fireguard so I now have a temporary handbook for a MY21 992 GT3 which is different primarily for the PCM but also some subtle changes elsewhere. The PCM e-handbook systems descriptions do however match with the car's PCM menu.
There are some bugs in the PCM and vehicle electronic systems so it follows the typical launch by Porsche of a new model (in this example it's the new PCM) without fully debugging the system software.
The new PCM 6 is quite different to the previous version which would be what is in any 992 produced before July 2021, so finally Porsche have got a voice control system which works brilliantly even with the higher ambient noise level in the GT3 and so a lot of what would have been done using the touch screen can now be done through voice activation, result more time to concentrate on the drive without having to faff about with the touch screen. Congratulations Adrian. Lucky you. What colour is it. PCM 6 sounds good.

Looking forward to see it it in the flesh.

The problem is Alan that the storey keeps changing. I was specifically told by my salesperson from the same OPC that my car may turn up with bits missing but I would still have to pay the full price. Lets hope Porsche have solved that problem for everyones sake as a few months have passed since that statement was made to me.
I have also been given a succession of dates for delivery and everyone has been missed so far. You can see from above that many cars ordered after mine have been delivered before mine so something strange has been going on. Unfortunately our particular OPC is not one of the better ones at customer communication so it has been a very frustrating experience
