Delay in 991 Turbo S Deliveries

Silverstone DEC already have their UK cars. Porsche run a very skinny stock inventory often relying on daily parts delivery. So it could be delays in stock from suppliers. Suggest you ask for interest payments on your deposit. That may help speed things up a bit! [8|] Regards, Clive.

Something's not right here. Just received an email from my OPC about what was supposed to be the arrival next month of my Turbo S:-

"....Porsche have informed us this morning of a delay in the Turbo S deliveries. We are currently not aware of the exact problem but will be informed soon hopefully. Our regional manager sounds fairly optimistic that they will still arrive this year, but will let us know when they know more."

With the wealth of behind-the-scenes information you knowledgeable fellows possess, any idea quite why there's this last minute delay? Last second reliability issues ??

Not sure if it's related but 400 Boxster 981's have been delayed in the US due to a technical fault with the passenger seat airbags. Rumour has it that the whole seat is being replaced. Tracy
 
The GT3 has been delayed - allegedly for problems with gearbox supply (according to the thread over there) BTW, I thought the deposit was £10k. If so I think Chris M's maths are a bit dodgy!

One of our happy band took delivery of his last Friday, so not sure what the hold up is now. I think his was a November delivery date originally so that one's early by a couple of weeks.
 
Hi Peter, Yes, I ordered mine in March this year, and took delivery last Friday. As a new Turbo S user, I thought I might add a few thoughts on my first 88 miles. The car looks lower and flatter and wider visually. I ordered guards red, as my previous C4S II was. From the start, the detail changes to the body was noticed. The petrol cap is silver plastic, not black. The headlight cluster is a work of art. I love the aerodynamic changes of the front and rear spoilers. Inside the car, I am really happy with a higher level of sophistication, especially at this price. The layout of center console and dashboard dials is similar to my previous 997. The digital display I dont mind, there is a lot of info going through that display and the SatNav junction detail on it is useful. I ordered the Burmester sound system, because I value my music whilst driving. Then, I had a test drive in a 997 Turbo last year. That was good and quick. But holy chips, this ons is powerful, and I could only unleash 5000 rpm so far. I am super impressed with the power output and ease of use. I was asked why I sold my 997 C4S, and I just answered, it was too slow, which is my true feeling. I am happy now. I love the new 4 wheel steering, which you can feel in action, and it is truly better than not having it. Road grip is mind blowing. So for me, coming from a C4S, it is the best move I could make.

When you are spending that sort of money, I would have expected a better explanation than that! [&:]
 
Another suggestion is you tell them as the car wasn't delivered on time, you won't take it now until March 2014. That'll really hack them off! [;)] Regards, Clive

Isn't the 'deal' that you can take delivery (and have the car registered) whenever you like, but they will still expect full payment when the car arrives with them? That's certainly the approach for my GT3 as the delivery delay means that it might end up arriving at end-January or early February, and I'd then be happy to wait 4 weeks or so for a '14' registration. The dealership sad they'd happily look after the car until then, but would need payment up front!

If I did I probably wouldn't have a drive to park it on.[;)] Hard to justify bridging the gap between a new Turbo S and the trade in value of mine....[&:]
