Just got to weld a small plate in the floor and thats all the welding done. Then just need to fit a new handbrake cable, a wiper linkage and 2 new rear tyres. Ed

Went to refit the carpets but found water in the n/s front foot well, it seams to be coming through the fuse box but can't see how it can the lid is on and there are no holes any ideas? Ed

well it MOT time next week, its all done apart from a washer pump which I am waiting for. Got a bit of paint work still to do but waiting for a nice day. Ed

i have just been out for a little drive just make sure it drives OK before taking it for its mot Tuesday, I have to say it goes well apart from a bit of a shake at the steering wheel. I have just given it a full service and new belts etc Ed

The belts are very easy to change you just need to get the right tension, there are some videos on you tube you can watch so you get the idea, the last person who fitted the balance belt didn't line the shafts up right so it now runs a bit smoother, There is no play in the wheel bearings so will get the front wheels balanced. Ed

Yes I have had a look at the seven part american video, with the old belt still fitted with the No1 piston checked for TDC with a dowel in the spark plug hole the alignment mark on the camshaft sprocket aligns perfectly with the mark on the casing, however the OT mark on the flywheel is approx 4mm from the alignment peg viewed through the small window at the rear of the engine, I guess that is near enough?

I just lined the cam up and marked the front pully, I couldn't see where the window on the back of the engine was. But I should think all the marks should line up and not be 4mm out? Ed

Yes you would think so but it runs perfectly , and did so for approximately 20k miles since the last belt change, could it be stretch in the old belt?, anyway I will follow the procedure in the video's and see how it looks with the new belt fitted.

It went for its MOT today only failed on the handbrake not working on the offside, so i am happy thats all it failed on [:)] Ed

Failed on handbrake - 944 - situation normal.[:)] Looking forward to seeing it on the road. Keep up the good work.

great thread to search up on thanks for taking the time to show what you did I just hope mine is not as bad!! I am going to try and get a camera down there.. if I painted my car out side the house I would have the Neighbour Police writing letters to the council quicker than I could tape the car up ready for painting :-(
