Cotswol Rally. Yes, it's on and it's booking!

Following some doubt, next year's Cotswold Rally is on. Booking details are below.

The numbers are reduced to 100, so bearing in mind that last year's 150 tickets sold out and a lot of members were disappointed, can I suggest you book early this year? I'm sure some of you will think about it the week before, just don't come to me and complain if you miss out!

There is another aspect to this year's event. There is a prize awarded to the Register with the best turnout. Not just numbers, but as a proportion of the size of the Register and the number of Register members who help out on the day. As a big Register we will never be able to have the highest proportion; one Carrera GT is equivalent to about 400 944s. We can, however, put forward any volunteers who might be able to help with the organisation. Contact Geoff if you can help.

The prize for the best Register representation is currently known only to the Register Secretaries, but it's a fantastic prize. I would be unable to accept it personally, as I'm a total coward with a fear of heights. And, I've met Derek Sharp [&:]. Suffice to say that if the 944 Register win this, one of you will be in for a real treat. Every 944 owner who books the event will be entered in to a draw if we were to win the prize, as that's the fairest way I can think of to allocate the winner's treat!

2012 Cotswold Rally

This is the first announcement of this years event. The date is Sunday 29th April and the starting venue Cornbury House.

I would like to introduce our sponsor, Heritage Insurance is with us for a fifth year and as anyone attending previous years event will tell you, their enthusiasm is amazing.

This year we go to Kemble Airport for our midway stopping point and we will be using a Southern Cotswold route for the Rally. There are facilities for you to eat the picnic provided in comfort or enjoy food in the "˜AV8' restaurant.

For new members. This is a social rally with no time element. It can be viewed as a fun event in it's own right or a taster for more ambitious event in the future. certificate. It is run under a "˜Motorsport Association Certificate of Exemption for a Touring Assembly'. We value the participation of families and there is a special award for "˜The Family Porsche' as well as "˜The car of the event', "˜The Classic Car', "˜Special Award' and "˜Register Award'. No skill is required and any standard Porsche, even a GT3, will be suitable. No special preparation is required.

What do I get? As usual each car is supplied with Tulip route maps, a rally plate, windscreen sticker and a good quality picnic for two people. Entry to the stopover venue is also included .

Please note that this event is limited to a Maximum of 100 cars and you are advised to book early to avoid disappointment.

What does it cost? The entry fee is unaltered from lasts year and remains at £40 per car.

How do I book? You send a stamped addressed envelope to "˜Cotswold RalIy, PCGB, Cornbry House, Cotswold Business Village. Moreton in Marsh GL56 0JQ
will then send you an application form which you fill in and return with a cheques made out to "˜PCGB Cotswold Rally'. You can request the form on email to r31@porscheclubgb.com but be aware that the forms are bulky and some firewalls reject them.

Club Health Warning. Cotswold Rallies are addictive and many entrants have stickers in their cars to prove it.

Our thanks to

Heritage Insurance for their sponsorship.

Porscheshop for emergency mechanical support.

That is me not happy' cannot go now [][]

Lunch arrangements have now changed too!

The stop is now to be Gaydon Motor Museum, it doesn't have a runway so thats a lot more members put out.

Museum is great, was stopover 2 years ago.

Sorry Guys about yet another change. [] All have been totally beyond Geoff's & my control! In fact we both have been running around like headless chickens recently. After total agreement with Cotswold Airport, they moved the goal posts late last week and presented us with a condition we could not agree to. However, we now should have a super rally. [:D]

Did they insist that all car drivers hold an instrument rating?

Time is running out to book for anyone still thinking about it.

There are still places available but I will soon be closing the books on the 2012 event.
Don't leave it until 2013 as at the moment, I do not intend to hold a 2013 Cotswold Rally for PCGB. This could be your last chance to enter this classic PCGB event.
