Classic membership

Received my Classic Membership package from Teesside on Saturday 20th May after a three month wait.
It comprised of a very fancy and expensive looking box with a small six page note-book describing the services provided and a "metal" membership card, in typically "Porsche" presentation style......make of that as you wish....

Can someone explain the point of classic membership? I’ve been to the website. It seems it’s really about 15% off parts but those parts have to be fitted by an OPC. (I know there’s also 4 free washes/oil/nitrogen tyre filling etc)

Do we also get classic servicing prices?
Also how much is this service per year?

My understanding is that this is an "OPC" initiative rather than a Porsche Club driven thing.
Therefore prices will be whatever your "local" OPC agrees, i.e. some will be more expensive than others.....is my take on it, albeit I haven't had the opportunity to get quotes for anything yet..

Applied on 27th March, Nottingham OPC (though they were very helpful filling in the application and sending everything off for me)
Chased since and heard nothing, not an email, not a peep.

Hopefully mine might pop up at the 3 month mark.

I too was looking forward to the welcome pack and the number plate surround []

applied Jan 20th, received the package May 23rd
followed up with local OPC and was told they have no visibility to application progress, contact Porsche GB
contacted Porsche GB and they said....contact your local OPC
was fitting the new PCCM+ and was told be the OPC that the discount didn't apply as I didn't have classic membership
then....discount doesn't apply to the 997 as I used the VIN from the older 911 for the application

after some spluttering of their bean to cup coffee over the carpet, counting to 10, short meditation session and other techniques to avoid going "full Glaswegian", I politely recounted the customer service that I'd had this year and to be fair, the discount was applied.

that it took 4 days of the car in the dealer to get the PCCM fitted is another story, but hey ho, its a first world problem, it was an agreed fixed price and its the first one they've ever fitted

do I now have the energy to arrange for nitrogen to be filled in the tyres (atmospheric air is +70% N2 anyway) and get the car washed? not yet
one promised benefit is a set of number plate surrounds....didn't come with the pack. Same for everyone else?

clearly a well intentioned program that has been overwhelmed by 997 owners becoming eligible this year, but a few wrinkles to be sorted out

Applied 2nd February & still not heard anything despite chasing OPC.
I mentioned the Classic register to a work colleague who applied on 3rd February at the same OPC & received his pack 3 weeks ago.

I think the demand has caught them out. My understanding is that initially you were promised two number plate surrounds & a badge. Now it’s just the one number plate surround & they’re not even sending this to you with the pack. By all accounts you have to visit the OPC for that.

in my opinion, really poorly executed, over promised & under delivered….

Four months have now passed since OPC Reading confirmed receipt of my Classic Application, since which time precisely nothing has been heard ... they don't even respond to any enquiry about progress.

Makes me wonder why I have bothered being a customer of theirs for the last decade.

My car has also been admitted to Classic membership since June. Not received the membership kit yet.
I have just purchased the last classic Porsche Pink Pig car badge on eBay. ??

Sorry no photos. I binned the box and notebook as both were over the top items that provided very little information but looked expensive to produce. As previously mentioned, just marketing gimmicks.

The numberplate holders were cheap plastic surrounds with Porsche Classic white letters on them. I wouldn't use them on my 997. The membership card is a credit card sized piece of metal with wheel shaped cut-outs and my name and membership number on it. If you want prices or info about the benefits you have to apply to your local OPC. Prices will be different nationally as it is an OPC based initiative.

I have used one of the plastic surrounds on my 997.2. The front one looked odd on cabriolet.

Hurrah! ... having submitted my application in April, I finally got my welcome pack (membership card and booklet) this morning, taking nearly 5 months!

Membership lasts 24 months and covers 8 complimentary wash and vacs, so the car is off to PC Reading for a spa day.

Interestingly, the T&C's in the booklet defines a qualifying 911 as up to and including 996 with no mention of 997, but I guess the next reprint will be updated.

Look forward to receiving the reg. plate surrounds sometime in the future.

Applied March, got my membership pack last week in August!!!

All very fancy looking, but the nice box is just a box at the end of the day.
The little 6 page booklet is nothing to write home about, not worth keeping.
And the metal membership card is 'ok'
Just thought it was nice to be in the Classic Membership

Didn't get my number plate surrounds.

Someone says you have to go to the dealership to get one of these?

Received the ‘Pack’ recently but no sign of the plate holders or the magazine either. I know your to get the plate holders from dealer but are they supposed to call you ? My dealer is rather lacking in communication at the best of times and I really don’t feel inclined to call them. Some of their Porsche Pros leave a bit to be desired in my experience sadly.

You will need to order the plates from your dealer’s part dept. There is no charge. They usually have one in stock. Without membership , the number plate surrounds cost £34. I have these on my car and are worth ordering.

Received mine after 3 months - one membership card, booklet but no number plate backing. However, can have car washed couple of times a year!
