Hi everyone, Porsche Centre Cambridge applied in Feb for my Classic Membership, however I haven’t heard anything yet. Has anyone else had a long delay in getting theirs ?

Yup! Applied late March and heard nothing, despite several chasers.

not a great start to the world of Porsche classic ??

At the Teesside event I was advised that it was notoriously slow and could take up to eight weeks .....or longer......

After making such a large announcement about it you would think that they would have been prepared.

Same story from me .... PC Reading have said it may take 10-12 weeks to process my application! Hope it's worth the wait.

Same here with Hatfield I’m afraid. My contact indicated a delay of about 10-weeks for the welcome pack.??

I first contacted Hatfield who took my details but they never got back to me. The other week I was at Porsche Centre Reading and registered was advised should receive welcome pack within 12 weeks.

Same late likelihood hear too and prolly not in time to offset some of my next service costs in June??

Exactly the same heard nothing from Cambridge

I requested [remotely] to join the register in early Feb. but because I had a Centre booking later that month it was suggested that I complete the registration then. 3 months or so later, still no id...

In the interim I arranged an appointment [for June] to purchase/install the PCCM+ system: I have just been informed that the parts are on 'back order' with no estimated time of arrival, but that once I have paid for the parts they normally come a lot faster, however the Classic discount can not be applied as they need the id when ordering the parts.

Seems to me that bureaucracy has got the better of this one...

Ditto - "Classic membership" is a marketing gimmick with zero resources and no buy-in at the OPCs. Waste of time and has only created damage to reputation.

Agree entirely - just another attempt to jump on the classic bandwagon, with little or no substance [:)]

I applied for membership with my 924 in July 2020 so you'd hope the process would be a bit slicker by now (I did get it back, not still waiting 3 years later [:D]).

For a freebie the benefits are ok with the plate surrounds, Porsche Originale once a year & discount for parts but it doesnt seem to be managed that well.

I’m guessing the discount for parts applies straightaway though and is is all parts or just those that they supply & fit? Which wouldn’t be cheap…

But PCGB club membership gets you the parts discount (or does Classic give you another 10% on top? - I doubt it).
The club discount applies no matter who fits it.

Think it is 15% of parts but you have to get work done at OPC so at a discounted rate say £170+vat or get 10% with club card and £70+vat at an Indie your choice
When cars get to classic status does the stamp count ? on the other hand if buying a classic car with full OPC history and one with random specialist which one would people go for ?

I’d go for whichever car was in the best condition after a PPI of course! I’ve read of some horror stories from both OPC and Indies, you just want to know someone who’s good on the tools did the work.
