Cayman Register Members on this Forum?

Hi Dan, and welcome to Porsche ownership and this Forum. As you say, chat on this part of the Forum is quite low and was one reason for me posting the original question here. And as one of the Guests, it's good to have your input. Hope Sytner resolve your suspension rattle problem and that you continue to enjoy your new purchase - it's a great car. Jeff

Hi Dan, Welcome to the forum, the Cayman forum has been a little quiet in the past but has recently been expanded a little by the addition of sections for FAQ's and Technical Articles. Some of the others under PCGB are more active. But the Cayman is less common than some other models plus some models do have several variants under their heading. Where are you based and tell us something about your car. It's useful to put a few details such as region, town in the Avatar notes and a few details of the car in your signature but you'll soon see how it goes. Are you planning on going to the meetings? I think you'll be in Region 9 West Midlands.

Kevan, are you going to pull together a Cayman meet at some point? i guess around your area as its probably a good inbetween point. Cheers, Jon

That's sound like a great idea.

hi all i am new Cayman owner too, welcome Dan, this is my 11th Porsche over last 25yrs been a member on & off, mine is Cayman S pdk gen II factory built show car owed by Porsche in Germany which came to uk 2 months ago & now mine! after ownership last 3.5 yrs of 997 gen I GT3 i can honestly say the Caymen with its mid engine is far better balanced handeling car its perfect, and at Snetterton last week surpriced a few people with more powerful cars, enjoy!

Thank you all for the warm welcome! Yes, it is an amazing car, the handling is just sublime, the engine and its ability to just rev, rev and rev is addictive. Every time I drive it I get it even more! Brilliant. I was very nervous about entering in to the Porsche sector, I'm not sure why but I'm so glad I have. Just need to sort this suspension rattle and it'll be almost perfect. I have the annoying boot lid 'thump' which I'm trying to sort by adjusting the catch....fingers crossed I can get it under control. I will want to attend a monthly meet up, so I'll be keeping an eye out on the area meets. Thanks again, Dan.

Welcome Dan I would have to agree, the Rev off the engine and exhaust note is very very addictive.

A short reply as it's so late, glad that Dan and other Cayman newbies are being made welcome. Remember that to appreciate the Cayman you have to really be into the handling of a car and the Cayman is sublime. No kidding, I love the corners! Some are now asking about a Cayman Meet, there is a rule which seems to require 6 months notice in PP and so I've obtained the agreement of the organiser of the Region 8 Annual meet at Chatsworth for us to add a Cayman meet onto the side of what they call the main event. We can have our own area and the event takes place at Chatsworth on the 30th June. Since I've only been register sec' for 2 weeks as good as I can do for a quick bit of organisation and the announcement will be in PP at the end of December. Otherwise, I would like to encourage you all to get to the regional meets and get to know each other, you've got proven good taste as you drive coupes with the engine in the right place so there's a starting point. Alternatively email each other within reach and meet up.[;)]

Hi Fern, Good to have you on this forum and interesting to hear your thoughts on the Cayman vs the GT3. On technical tracks, where outright speed is not an overriding issue, I reckon that the Cayman can always give the more exotic machines a run for their money. Glad to hear that you're enjoying the car - perhaps we'll see you back in the Club..? Jeff

yes i am in R21 & have been a club member for last 10yrs, off & on was prevoius to that. dont no why my status shows me as guest?

Hi all, I'm also a member (since feb) and am really love the Cayman... I've spent a few months wondering how to change my status from guest to member so will hopefully get that sorted now [;)] I've just moved into a new region R29 Surrey and used to be in R19. Have only ever managed to make it to one monthly meeting but hope to have more time soon and am looking forward to a Cayman register meet some time.

Hi. I'm a relatively new member. Live in Worcestershire and have been to one R13 meeting so far - plan to go to more! David

Hi David, After a slow-ish start on this post, we seem to have gathered a bit of momentum. Look forward to hearing from you on this forum and to meeting up in the future. What are you driving? Hope you're enjoying Cayman ownership. Jeff

As an update - I took the plunge and joined the club this week - so hopefully I can change my status from 'guest' to member shortley. Anyone know how long it takes to get the membership pack through?? Dan.

Hi Dan, expect 2 - 3 weeks Club office is pretty busy and even renewals seem to be unprepared although I'm on Direct Debit!
