Hi Jack,

Welcome to the Club, forum and to Cayman ownership especially.

Look forward to catching-up with you at an R10 meeting soon. In fact there’s one scheduled for this coming Saturday!

Jeff

Hi Scrounger and Jeff,

Thanks for your welcomes.

I had seen that there was a meet this coming Saturday but it looks like the first one I'll be able to make is October, looking forward to it anyway!

Jack

Hi there,

My name is Ray and joined PCGB this week (Nov 2021) and I will be picking up my first Porsche tomorrow - Cayman 981 GTS.

I'm West Yorkshire based, so R7 I believe is my region.

I hope to get involved in some of the meets and posting here on a more regular basis.

Many thanks Andrew,

Apologies, I should have given a few more details.

15 plate, 16k on the clock, white, alcantara with GTS interior and PDK.

I was seriously swaying back and forth between manual and PDK, but the car at Redline was a peach and ticked all the right boxes in terms of previous owner (PCGB sticker on the car), history, options and the service Redline offered. I can't wait to pick her up tomorrow and for spring to arrive!

Looks to have grille mesh inserts ?

If it`s anything like my prior 981 Cayman S PDK (2013) it`ll be a superb all-rounder. My only `mod` was to fit Michelin PS4S tyres (20" are Porsche N rated)

Welcome to the club, Ray.

Judging from the model you’ve picked, you are obviously a man of impeccable taste. Fabulous car - you cannot fail to enjoy it.

Looks like it already has grilles fitted too. Hope to meet up somewhere in the North and see it in the flesh. All the best - enjoy your new car.

That's correct Andrew on the mesh inserts. One of the many things that drew me to the car i.e. I could see someone cared and knew about their 981's. Sadly reading the forum posts, Porsche GB don't see it that way.

I'm considering the same as it's on P Zero's at the moment. I'll probably get some wear out of them over winter and change them over. Did it really change the car for you in terms of handling?

Thanks Gordon and likewise on the taste! I just couldn't believe how stunning they are in the flesh. I put the key in the ignition with my best mate in the passenger seat who has owned 6 911's and as soon as that flat 6 kicked in we were both sold!

Yes I look forward to meeting up as well when things get warmer again.

Welcome to the club Ray - you’re right too that R7 is your region. We are a great bunch of enthusiasts and try to get out and about together as much as we can - keep up to date on the R7 section of the forum.

Not dramatically, gave more confidence ... apart from the tread blocks `cracking` the PZ`s performed well

When new the PS4S eliminated the noisy tyre scrubbing at parking speeds, it did return slightly as they wore down

The PS4S take a fair bit of `running in` to feel the best of them, at least 1/2mm. Has been the same on the current GT4

If not already by Redline, have the wheel alignment / geometry checked - set

I’ll be needing new tyres on my GT4 come spring - currently on Dunlops and I’m unsure which route to take. I don’t need Cup Sport type but be interested in other owners views please?

To Dunlop or not?

Thanks

I can’t fault them Dylan. Like anything in life it was a leap of faith and a leap I’m glad I made. Service and advice start to finish from Jake has been excellent.

I had the alignment done by Redline yesterday. All work had come back ticking boxes, but neither Redline or I could find anything from an alignment aspect. Can’t fault them, I asked and they booked it in

I’ll see how I get on with the Pirelli’s. sounds like an equally good tyre for the 981 and down to taste.

Welcome Ray.

A great choice of Porsche (not that I am biased or anything) and I am sure you will enjoy it as the miles pile on.

Re tyres, there is a lot of information and opinion on here.. At the moment Michelin Pilot Sport are well regarded, but get an order in early as supply is currently a bit patchy. This is a recent thread on the subject.

Hello Jeff

I am a regular visitor to this forum.

I am a member of Region 21, though I have yet to attend a monthly meeting.

I do however go to National Events, the most recent being the excellent Christmas Fayre at Bicester.

Hello to all.

finally brought my first Porsche .

981 GT4 , looking forward to being part of the group .

Welcome aboard Trevor (and somewhat belatedly to Richard … missed that January post!).

A great choice of Cayman, and enjoy driving the car this summer and beyond. Be sure to keep us posted on progress and impressions, etc.

A pic of the car would be good.

Jeff
