Cayman R

Luke,

As a previous 987 CR owner (manual), I absolutely agree with your rationale to go for the 987 CR, albeit in PDK format and sans bucket seats. This model of 987 handles so well, and with yours having the right suspension and brakes mods, it was clearly the car for you at an attractive price even considering the high mileage.

As has been noted by other contributors, the PDK gearbox oil changes are very important. For a car of this mileage, I would recommend changing the transmission oil more frequently than the normal scheduled services.

Enjoy your CR. One of the best Caymans in my experience.

Brian

Thanks for the tips on looking after the PDK, I normally have manuals and have never owned a duel clutch/paddle shift piece of kit (which I am loving by the way)

Luke,

To enjoy the PDK properly, use sport mode manual shifting, and drive the car as you would drive a manual gearbox car. This keeps both you and the car in harmony.

Brian

Thereā€™s an excellent thread on Rennlist re repairing PDK:

the distance sensor seems a common failure point, this is a site to a supplier of aftermarket ones, with some additional good reference links on its page.

http://t-design9.com/porsche_PDK_displacement_distance_gear_position_sensor.html Certainly seems there is a growing body of intel on the repair rather than replace route - if the need should ever arise šŸ«£ šŸ‘šŸ»
