Just to say tomorrow will be my last day of Cayenne Ownership .. The RS6 I ordered in May last year / Order cancelled in December / but delivered in January / and bought this weekend (after some "help" from Audi) will be ready for collection in 3 weeks

It is actually really sad to see the Cayenne go .. its been a great car .. pretty much flawless and a complete pleasure to drive for the last 3 years and 40K miles [:(] [:(]

BoxsterS stays (of course) so still expect occasional posting from me

PS any one want to but a hardly used roof transport system with easy load and 2 bike racks [;)] Sorry Admins []

Hope the new motor lives up to your expectations - like you I've had a great few years of KN ownership so far but have no intention of changing brands atm. Let's have your comparisons when you've had the RS for a while.

Peter et Al

So lived with a RS6 for 2 weeks now .. Still "running in", so around 800 miles on the clock . .

Summary .. its Fast .. No, that's a lie ........ its Brutally Fast [:)], most of the time its driven using the first one maybe two centimetres of pedal travel, forget about it and pull out at a junction with a bit of right foot and be ready to hit the car in front ! LOL
Brakes are good...and I did not go for the 5K Ceramics as well
Handling is like a 2 ton estate car, I'd say more nimble than a Cayenne, but not a Boxster.. However Its real fun to play with on the country roads, bit boring on Motorways as its just "really really easily bumbling along" at '70'.. I beleive its capable of doing more than 70mph in situations where its allowed [;)]
Build quality .. Audi like, as in very good, but to be honest its not Porsche standards.. bit more plastic than Porsche - however all the buttons, dials, knobs .. German excellance of course
Ride is great in Dynamic and Comfort and teeth jarring in Sport... Like the Boxster with PASM set to sport
Ipod Integration, Hard Disk Juke Box , DAB radio, also having Steve McQueen's Le Mans DVD in the Media system is a blast (DVD of course only when stationary) .. The Music / entertainment /Sat Nav system if you'd like my summary is Porsche could learn a lot from Audi.. Using the 3D sat nav in London with a 3D view of things like Houses of Parliment and London eye is so ahead of Porsches Sat Nav
Fuel Consumption around town is err .. "not good" [;)] I see approx 15mpg at best .. On a "70" mph Motorway cruise it will deliver 22 mpg (IMO not bad for a V10 5.2L)
Public Acceptance factor.. Hardly anyone sees it for more than a "Audi Estate Car" .. so no one looks at you..... for instance, its nice to drive past the primary school beside our house and not have the parents leap and grab their children as they see a "killer SUV" approach ... (always drives me mad as I was always well under the posted 20 mph and very aware of the surroundings .. I live here for petes sake, to be honest I think I drive safer that most "non SUV" vehicles I see around the school) also the 'Lollipop Lady' does not seem to insist on leaping out in front of me to stop "that awfull big car"

Do I miss the Cayenne .. yes I really do ... I'd have another one tomorrow, they are IMO great cars... The RS6 is just very very different and I'm enjoying it.. We are off in a few weeks on a walking Holiday in the Lakes, our Cayenne was the perfect car for that.. It'll be interesting to see how the RS6 steps up to wet boots, clothes, bags been chucked in. I do already have one "concern" which is not having the luxary of parking pretty much any where ... []

So I think this may well be my last post in the Cayenne Section .. So I waves bye to all fellow Cayenne owners as I'll be desub'ing from the section as well, many thanks to all the folks I interacted with re Cayennes over the last 3 years.. I wish you safe travels and happy motoring in your vehicles

I'll still be around in the Boxster Section if any one wants to 'poke me' re my experiance of 3 years in a V6 Cayenne

Thanks for the update - sounds like you're going to enjoy this one as much as the KN but for different aspects of the beast. I'll be very interested to know how you feel about the car in a few months time, I had an A4 convertible for a while, and loved it to start with, but found the 'deadness' of the controls wearing after a few weeks and the handling was simply not in the same class as the Boxster we had beforehand, and to be fair that's an unfair comparison. My wife had a 'moment' negotiating a favourite roundabout and after that, it had to go! Still, the TV was fun...

Keep the faith with the Boxster though.

Ok I said I'd pop back and update

RS6 .. ohh wow ... thats a silly fast car .. loving every minute of it ... Treated her to a detail the other week which is covered here
http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=139943

Motorways are interesting as hardly any one ever pulls over to let you past as all they see is an "yet another Audi", more folk pulled over for the Cayenne.. So it can be more stress full sometimes as muppets pull out in front of you more etc .. However given 5 feet of room and you can blip past them without a second thought..

Boxster is still amazing .. love it to bits and although not as fast ... it really does highlight just how good it corners and plays with twisty roads versus the RS6

RS6 looks great on DW, pretty colour, glad it's still living up to expectations. Having just had to run up and down the country on the dreaded M25/M1 and return via A1/M25 through the roadworks I agree that a moody black KN has presence, but not always in a good way! Interesting that you mention fuel consumption as not the greatest (hardly surprising with that engine) but have been disappointed with the KN's DFI version which promised 15% better economy. In real life it is just as good/bad as our first one; just 18.6mpg over many thousands.
And you've still got the Boxster for the twisty bits.[:)]

Know its a little late :) was lucky enough to be invited to the New Cayenne Launch at Porsche Reading/Calcot last month and have to say thats a lovely looking car from Porsche .. loved the old Cayenne shape, but this one blows it away..

You never know if Audi dont get their finger out with a RS6 replacement in 2 years time (maybes / maybes not .. current RS6 takes last order this month, A6 C7 is suggested Mid 2011, RS models usually appear about 18 months to 2 years) .

I could be back in a Cayenne [:)]

Boxster is still "Fan - Tastic"

.... gdavidson ... good to see you on this website, aswell as Audi ! as I have only just joined this site.

Yes, I still love my 2003 C5 Audi Avant & as you know, sold my 2009 C6 Audi Avant after 6 months.

Looking forward to my new Cayenne Turbo which arrives end of July. It will share the garage with my 2004 996 turbo
which has done less than 16,000 miles from new.

Can't wait to take delivery of my new Cayenne ....

Here's my 996 with the C5 in the background.

You'll love the Cayenne Turbo :) Audi took last orders for the C6 RS6 this week.. so they finished that run .. need to see if timing on a C7 RS6 will work .. C7 A6 will be mid/late 2011... RS's usually 2 years into the run .. If when I change in 2 to 3 years time there is no new RS6, may just have to get a new Cayenne on order [:D]

Nice 996 too
