Bad news on my 944

I’m going in next week to help reassemble the interior as there are a few upgrades and tweaks I’m doing at the same time.

Should be done in a couple of weeks.

Take a look at www.augmentAutomotive.co.uk Or com between Ross on Wye And Gloucester Web site looks very impressive and hundreds of photos of the most horrific rusty and rotton 944 body and sills. I have had no dealings with them just sounding out potential places for my project

Thought I should update!! I have had talks with Retro Restorer, he had website issues apparently which meant my enquiries were lost. In the meantime some of the funds have been spent on the house so I am probably looking at a start on the works second half of this year.

So I have a way forward which is do-able, which is a big improvement on where I was!

Anyone going to the Classic Car show at Excell? I'll be there on the Saturday

I have just taken ownership of a 944 , hoping for some advice the timing belt was changed 3k miles ago but this was over 4 years ago. Am I best to change the belt

hiya Ken,,,,
Rule of thumb is 4years or 40,000 miles,,,
which ever comes first,,,,
had mine done this week and within a month of the last belt change 4 years ago,,,,
For piece of mind i would all consider your water pump and a timing kit which includes all the belts, rollers etc as the belt may have been changed but the not the other very important bits,,,,,,
all the best,,jasonp

If the tensioners and rollers were changed too I'd inspect the belts for contamination and tension first. I think more belts snap due to seized rollers/contamination than rubber degradation. My car has done 20k in the last 10 years, I've changed the belts and rollers once and the water pump never. Follow my example at your own risk [:)].

Went to see it this weekend, all back together, just waiting on a final polish and once over.

Running really rough but its sat for 6 months being moved in and out of the workshop so hopefully new plugs and a clean of the lambda sensor (VEMS ECU) followed by an Italian Tune Up should sort it out.

Am getting the car fully Gtechniqed but decided against PPF as Xpel are the only company that make a kit for it and their film is really thick. I have found the perfect way of avoiding road rash when I go to the Ring in May though . . . I bought a 911 at the weekend ??

Post-Photobucket pics still allude me!

The car isn’t that local to me, I travelled down from Newcastle upon Tyne to Luton on Sunday for work - stopped off and did the deal on the way. Getting the car trailered up on Friday (weather dependent) straight to my Indy’s.
