Back on the road again...

Well my car is back from Promax after various issues regarding boost leaks, turbos, smoke and strange noises have been sorted so full steam ahead for getting to Silverstone Classic next weekend. [:)]

As the icing on the cake the car was taken up to Wayne and Chipwizards to get a remap and has come back with some fairly respectable output figures

The dyno read out is 384.5 HP @ 6710 rpm (though Wayne reckons that the machine reads aroung 10 HP over so will settle for 375 HP !) and 464Nm of torque at 5495 rpm[8D]

Suffice to say that the car feels amazing now with so much flexibilty as well as power, looking forward to enjoying the car again out on the open road which is what it's all about.

That should be the almost the last under the bonnet tweak (though still thinking an uprated intercooler would be worthwhile) now need to turn my attention to refreshing the brakes (!) maybe trying to get the aircon working and looking into the bodywork which while ok at the moment does need a bit of tlc and a front end respray at some point.

Happy days !

Big numbers indeed. It seems very free revving. I am quite surprised that the torque and BHP peaks happen at such high revs, especially the torque peak. I guess most of that is down to your LR61 in comparison to the K26/8.

While it is obviously a monster at high RPM, what's it like lower down in terms of the boost transition? Is it a ballraced / watercooled turbo? (From the Lindsey website it looks as if it comes in both BB / wet and plain bearing / dry)

What mods have you done to achive those figures?

Some detail in Jon's footer.
Mick

Yes basically as per my footer, the retune by Chipwizards being the only major thing not mentioned there and that has certainly made a considerable difference.

Not had too much chance to drive it since the remap but from what I have found so far the transition very smooth with plenty of ooomph lower down too. As far as I know the LR61 turbo is just a plain bearing/dry one that was off the shelf at Promax a while back. The Vitesse MAF certainly helps a huge amount with the power delivery when compared with the standard AFM. I had the Vitesse fitted when I still had the K26/8 installed and it made a noticeable difference then as well.

I have the dyno print out - will try and post it up when I get a chance in the near future.

Really nice figures Jon [8D] what boost level does it run at - 1.2bar?

Now get out and drive it [:)]

1.3 bar - essentially an enhanced Promax level 3 set up.

The drive to Silverstone this weekend should be fun ! [8D]

now need to turn my attention to refreshing the brakes

With that hike in power you do mean enhancing ie: bigger - dont you?

Well the existing system needs refreshing as it has a bit of plate lift and the rear discs are looking rather tired but yes now the power is as is it is the refereshing will become enhancing.....

That's good new Jon, you must be very pleased.

Keep going with the mods. One day it may be as quick as an S2! [;)]
