Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

CHAT GPT :ROFLMAO:
Current Price Levels (UK) – Low-Mileage 981 Spyder

Indicative Values from Recent Listings & Sales

  • ** ~£70k-£75k+** – Dealer listings for very low-mile, clean examples (e.g., ~8,000–12,000 miles) appear £70,000–£75,000+ in private dealer stock.
  • ~£72.5k – Example with ~11,750 miles listed by a UK specialist.
  • ~£71,931 – A sold 2016 car with just ~2,486 miles recently recorded.
Auction/Older Sales — Broader Range
  • ~£54k – A 2015 Spyder with ~39,000 miles sold at auction in late 2025.

  • Auction results suggest that higher-mileage or less-desirable cars can land significantly lower, but low-mile, well-presented cars still command a strong premium.

Valuation Trend Data
  • According to valuation indexing, average offer/list prices in UK classifieds have hovered around ~£70,000+ for 981 Spyders recently, with small fluctuations over the past year.
Market Interpretation

Strong Demand for Low Mileage Cars

  • Low-mile, well-maintained 981 Spyders routinely fetch £70k+ and in some cases towards £75k depending on spec, service history, and condition — very strong for an ICE sports car ~10–11 years old.
Why Values Are High
  • Limited production + enthusiast appeal: The 981 Spyder was produced in small numbers and is seen as a very pure, engaging driver’s car.
  • Rarity in UK listings: Few available at any one time, especially under ~15,000 miles.
  • Classic/collector interest: Many buyers are holding cars rather than selling; those that come up have strong pricing power.
Variance Based on Mileage & Condition
  • Cars with ~30,000–40,000 miles are frequently £50k-£60k range at auction or trade (e.g., ~£54k for ~39k miles).
  • Higher-mileage cars (40k+) often don’t command the very high premiums — low-mile examples are where significant value concentration is occurring.

Big-Picture Takeaways

👍 Low-mile 981 Spyders are holding up very well in the UK, with enthusiast demand keeping prices high — often significantly above what a typical Boxster of the 981 generation would fetch.

📈 Values have moderated little over recent years and some metrics even show low net declines or slight net gains in the classifieds trend, underlining how these cars are increasingly treated as modern classics.

📊 Compared to other 981 models (e.g., base Boxsters, Cayman S), the Spyder commands a sizable premium due both to its performance and relative rarity.

Nothing new, regurgitated speculation. The NA versions being special GT versions are likely to butt up against 911 pricing, which did not work out well last time.

The GT3 engine is not engineered for emissions unlike the 718 4.0L GTS which through combustion chamber design was quite efficient. So I wonder what price point they are aiming at, what emissions regime they envisage and whether after 2 years of no 718 replacement and 4 years of no NA 718 replacement the market will still embrace the "cheap' Porsche sports car approach.

718 SRS, mad as a box of frogs and a great car - will it ever be matched in the brave new world? 718 4.0L GTS/Spyders also great cars on a more practical level.

the 2 nice 718 PDK spyder's sold on a day it snowed !!

now nothing for sale 718 PDK wise for a normal Spyder !

I think I would go buckets fit the tilt bracket and spend £1k doing a hearted seat add in.

I would love a White one with all the spec PDK and PCCB's with buckets, LEDS and carbon/Leather.

white seems very rare on the 718 ! I will be fussy on spec as this is my retirement car and I will sell the GT3 once the right car is obtained. and the 718 GTS.

Was ear marked up as sold December 2025 £149,991 excl VED and £29,681 of options

A new year new deal back for sale again  Listed at £155,181 excl VED on sale now
£145,990 presumably excl VED unregistered and brand new
