Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

If you imagine that this guy puts the roof down and up in 5 mins, its easy to accept that it really does take much less than 2 mins to take down or put up at normal speed. Cecil I'm kinda twitching[&:][&:] I note on the options list they have heated seats which we consider a must on a convertible! Ive yet to see one advertised that has heated seats[8|]

Most of the Spyders without the racing buckets had the heated seat option so not too hard to find amongst the 237 cars out there I would guess 50% have the standard sports seat and most of those will be heated

When I was buying, all but one that I looked at with the sports seats (not sports bucket seats), had heated seats. Trouble is, virtually all the remaining OPC cars have the buckets. If one comes up with sports seats it's pretty sure to have the heaters as well. When there were more cars, there was as much choice of either type of seat. I would've craved the buckets but the need to install a child seat and Isofix points made it mandatory to avoid them. I'd imagine there a handful of people, who need sports seats for whatever reason, waiting to pounce on the next one that comes up with sports seats. Good luck![:)]
 
Out of the 4 remaining cars at OPC's one has "hot chairs" and a stick shift too The Guildford Spyder
 
Ah yes, a newer addition since the original 4 this thread started out with. Well spec'd too. Let's see how long this one sticks around. My guess is less than a month.
 
It's a funny spec that car - all that extra weight but no sat nav! Have you also noticed how age / mileage seems to play no part in the OPC pricing strategy - the oldest highest mileage car is the dearest! This rain can't be helping sales...

I agree. Price vs spec / age / mileage / time taken to sell, hasn't followed any pattern from what i've seen. They were going like hot cakes over the winter, with many a car having been sold before I could get to visit. Then I dived in in Feb. Then I kept watching (as you do, to make sure you feel like you got a good deal) and the cars were piling up in spring[&:] No logic with the weather either, despite the roof.[&:]
 
Another one gone. The test drive can't have been the best - you know what OPC's are like when the weather is bad - make you feel as if you'd be reckless to go over 30mph[:D]. Daro911 I think your thread marks another milestone. Only 3 at OPC's (and no 2011's just now). I can't help but watch now, hoping we get to zero[:)]. S*d's law, no doubt one more will pop up. There'll always be a few outside the dealer network but i'll ignore those as per the subject of the thread.

I think one Spyder in your web is more than enough for now The Abarth C is great fun and the spyder version may never materialise bit like the 981 version may never either if my OPC's predictions are right![:D]

Nice picture. Am off to aBoxster event at the PEC Silverstone next Thursday to play with the 981. Back to your original post - now only 2 Spyders for sale at OPCs today!! Had to go to work in mine today - just finished washing it on Sunday when the heavens opened and I put it straight in the garage. It didn't stop raining until this morning. Brakes now de- rusted and she can be tucked away again!!

Me too but next Monday [:D] In meantime one of my colleagues (owns a Spyder becuase of mine) was lent a 981 S for 3 days this week so we have both had a good play with her. Bottom line and looks aside its a very smooth, grown up and extremely comfortable car to be in and drive. No faster, but a lot smoother rding than a Spyder and with PASM and 20" wheels easily has far more grip in this weeks slippy conditions. But for all the obvious plus sides to a brand new super model one ingrediant that has been diluted is the racy fun factor that the Spyder has in bucket loads The choice between the two is almost impossible to call but factor in the MASSIVE price differences, the rarity of 1/237 Spyders in UK today and the characterful hardcore side of the Spyder and just perhaps as the 981's become a more common sight on the roads over the next 12-18 months the Spyder might still have an edge [;)] Whilst I think you can't beat testing a car on the roads over several hours or days to get a real feel for the benefits a change of model can bring to the tarmac as well as ones wallet :ROFLMAO: I look forward to my half day at the PEC and also your views on the fabulous 981 .... Now will we be allowed a 981 "R" as a 981 Spyder seems to be off the menu with worldwide sales rumoured to be 1667 in total and not the 4000 plus Porsche were aiming for originally [&o]

As a daily driver the 981 is a no brainer. For weekend thrills, I'm happy the Spyder will always edge it. Those rear humps cost £150k on a 997 Speedster!
 
linda and i there too on monday[:D] having missed out on the nice black spyder will have to think about the 981 now[:eek:]
