Anyone want 16" Fuchs?

The wheels are 7 and 8 by 16. seriously this car is worth every penny of the asking price probably more to be honest. You have to understand this is a dealer who deals in 2-4 year old BMW's and the odd merc. He said he tried to be as honest as possible in the advert and price the car at what he gave for it in order to shift it on quickly. But so far everybody seems to expect a concourse car for £1500. I'm still trying to stop myself from buying it.

Hi Colin,

Nice to meet you today and thanks for the kind comments. It's appreciated.

So refreshing to talk to someone who understands what this car is and has measured expectations of what a 1500.00 Porsche will be like. Yes, I may have been a bit over critical, but I think that's the best way to be. It's common place for people to travel 100s of miles now-a-days thanks to the net, so the least I can do is not gloss over a cars condition.

I'm sure there will be somebody out there with 1500 for it.

Thanks for reminding me of the first Tuesday thing, would be great to catch up with some like minded Porsche guys. Had two 911s over four years and haven't really done much club stuff. Miss that from my Evo days of yesteryear!

Hopefully catch up with you and some of the other guys over the next few months.

Cheers,
Stevie

I was referring to the vendor of the 944. I will delete my post, but only because the post by a PH member (on PH) explaining how he was treated by the 944 vendor has been deleted by a moderator. The post stating that they arent to be trusted remains.

On the strength of that I wouldnt entertain dealing with them, you, or whoever.

Thanks Stevie. It would be good to see you at our meets.I'm sure you will find a home for the 944.Check the Scotland section of the forum for details of meets etc.

I'm sure we will Colin. As I said, I appreciate you actually coming to see the car and sharing your unbiased views with everyone on the Forum.

Till next time!

Well,

I have to say I am quite saddened if someone feels they have been treated that badly, that the first thing they have looked to do is run to their keyboard to share their bad experience with the world. I had a young lad out early in the week who wanted to get an RAC inspection done to which I said not to bother and best to spend his 1500 on something else (who in their right mind gets an RAC inspection done on a car like this at 1500?) and an aggressive English man, whos prime objective appeared to be how cheap he could get the car for.

Why this is a reason not to trust me, or my business really is beyond me. [8|]

Stevie, our next meeting at The Sherbrooke Castle Hotel is Tuesday 5th March, hope to see you there. Maybe Colin will come in his new Red 944 with Fuchs wheels, lol.

I tend to ignore statements like Simon's (944man), there is no detail of issue with yourself. I'm guessing they offered you £500 and were offended when you told them to phuck off!

Alan.

Cheers Alan,

I think I'll take your advice on that [:)]

It wasn't quite as harsh as 500.00, it was the way in which the gentleman approached the whole thing. I'm an approachable sort - I need to be, it one of the requirements of the job - and I receive 'offers' on cars all the time. Some times I accept, some times I dont, but there is ways and means of going about things. I'm sure you will agree [;)]

Anyway, I'll definitely try and come along in March. I enjoy being part of club and going on runs/trackdays/euro runs. Got Nurb24 in May... Cant wait! :)

The car mentioned on the PH thread was a BMW. It had nothing to do with the 944 but it came from the same vendor.

Whether it was accurate, or even true is impossible to know, but I considered the post to be credible or I wouldnt have mentioned it. Had your posts here been different than Id have been confident that it was an honest account, but Im certainly not sure, now.

The reason I use this forum and not any of the others is that we don't do slagging matches on here( maybe John Mitchel at Jmg would disagree after the last post about his business) I also like this forum because we don't have many people who comment and offer advice with no knowledge of the problem / subject manner. We have some very good people on here who know what they are talking about. We should be encouraging the Independents and dealers to come on and give their point of view, that way we can all begin to appreciate how they work and form our own informed decisions on their work. Lets not ruin this forum by letting the standards slip.

ohhh the hatchet is well and truly buried as far as I am concerned.

This car looks to me to be good value for money, the dealer could be Genghis Khan and it would really not matter.

Yeah, the engine could be full of sawdust (not that that actually does anything), the cooling system could be full of chewing gum and the doors filled with concrete, as well as any number of mythical car dealer tricks...

But, this car is being advertised really honestly, to the point it is bordering on comical, and being advertised for a price that is the bottom end of what a private seller would advertise it for, which means (as far as I feel) that it does not matter if the dealer actually is Genghis Khan and if you took it back he might threaten to pillage your entire home town, because I think you would have to be especially cheeky to expect a warranty on such a car at this kind of price. (unless of course its description was completely bogus)

Besides, I have seen private sellers be entirely more cunning and deceptive when they are trying to sell their old 944, with fraudulent descriptions, potions from halfords exploding from every fluid holding crevice, trim held on with no-more-nails and tyres held together with back-to-black... and the seller could be Genghis Khan, a wife beating, kiddy fiddling, estate agent and it does not matter, concentrate on the car.

Yes the guy is a dealer, and maybe someone on pistonheads said bad things about him, but there are some real con artists on pistonheads, I had one slagging off my business and saying in there that we had not done up his wheel nuts last year, even though our cctv it showed us using a torque wrench on each one, not to mention the report from the AA that he called saying that all 4 wheels had all wheel nuts exactly 2 turns loose, which they found suspicious, as soon as I suggested that we contact the police, as his car must have been tampered with between us closing and him collecting it, he was pleading with the PH moderators to delete the whole thread he started on there and then vanished off the face of the earth..

Yes there can be some dodgy car dealers, but for every dodgy car dealer there are flocks of dodgy customers.. a real eye opener is a blog by a ex car dealer called Barry Crampton, do a search for it, it is an eye opener to how dodgy the general public can be..

If I was closer to this car, I would seriously be talking to the dealer about doing a deal on it... I would just buy it, take the wheels off, put some cookie cutters back on it and put it through the local car auctions, where I am sure it would get me back nearly everything I paid for it.

Just my 2p worth

* I would like to apologise to any wife beating kiddie fidlers on here if you were insulted by being painted in the same light as estate agents - the comment was just for comic value *

Looks like a reasonable entry into 944 ownership to me. Second-fastest colour, fastest wheels. Bargain. [:)]

I think these make the 944 look like an absolute bargain!

Who will pay £2,500 for those?!? Fuchs wheels are anodised, not painted! Theyre up for about 5x what theyre worth!

i think the rims in those are polished then painted clear which is ok as would be tricky to recreate the factory finish. the prob with fuchs is they can pit badly then people paint them to hide that seen a few sets like that!
I've seen the 944 shocked its not sold definitely worth a punt, guess its still feb! The seats are very nice and its holding good oil pressure!
I'm holdingon for an S2 i think!
