ohhh the hatchet is well and truly buried as far as I am concerned.
This car looks to me to be good value for money, the dealer could be Genghis Khan and it would really not matter.
Yeah, the engine could be full of sawdust (not that that actually does anything), the cooling system could be full of chewing gum and the doors filled with concrete, as well as any number of mythical car dealer tricks...
But, this car is being advertised really honestly, to the point it is bordering on comical, and being advertised for a price that is the bottom end of what a private seller would advertise it for, which means (as far as I feel) that it does not matter if the dealer actually is Genghis Khan and if you took it back he might threaten to pillage your entire home town, because I think you would have to be especially cheeky to expect a warranty on such a car at this kind of price. (unless of course its description was completely bogus)
Besides, I have seen private sellers be entirely more cunning and deceptive when they are trying to sell their old 944, with fraudulent descriptions, potions from halfords exploding from every fluid holding crevice, trim held on with no-more-nails and tyres held together with back-to-black... and the seller could be Genghis Khan, a wife beating, kiddy fiddling, estate agent and it does not matter, concentrate on the car.
Yes the guy is a dealer, and maybe someone on pistonheads said bad things about him, but there are some real con artists on pistonheads, I had one slagging off my business and saying in there that we had not done up his wheel nuts last year, even though our cctv it showed us using a torque wrench on each one, not to mention the report from the AA that he called saying that all 4 wheels had all wheel nuts exactly 2 turns loose, which they found suspicious, as soon as I suggested that we contact the police, as his car must have been tampered with between us closing and him collecting it, he was pleading with the PH moderators to delete the whole thread he started on there and then vanished off the face of the earth..
Yes there can be some dodgy car dealers, but for every dodgy car dealer there are flocks of dodgy customers.. a real eye opener is a blog by a ex car dealer called Barry Crampton, do a search for it, it is an eye opener to how dodgy the general public can be..
If I was closer to this car, I would seriously be talking to the dealer about doing a deal on it... I would just buy it, take the wheels off, put some cookie cutters back on it and put it through the local car auctions, where I am sure it would get me back nearly everything I paid for it.
Just my 2p worth
* I would like to apologise to any wife beating kiddie fidlers on here if you were insulted by being painted in the same light as estate agents - the comment was just for comic value *
