Southern meet? Will there be lots of shandy?
We tend to drink Pimms down here, or a nice chilled Sancerre. The weather tends to be better, of course. [8|]
Yes, the rain will be not quite as heavy [

The ace cafe is normally a good place/ time to meet as they still have the regular Porsche meets there.
That's a Monday evening meet, so it's both a workday, and doesn't go anywhere.
A one-off weekend meet would be great. Sundays are better for me, and I'd be happy to have everyone meet up at mine for breakfast and tyre-kicking, then have a drive through the Chilterns to a suitable lunch spot.

Still keen for this. I think it's up to original poster to decide on place as it was his suggestion... Otherwise this thread will continue to ramble on with no decision being made. So over to you ex skyline. Look forward tp putting a date in the diary.
+1
Come on Pete what's the date?

Tell them the date, and the location, and they will turn up. Some will moan that it didn't suit them, and I bet you pick a week when Andy Watson is on holiday [
Over the last few years, Porsche people have had so many events to go to that they have really cut back. Mileage is expensive, work is busier. Most members have at least one region event a month, many go to more than one. There are several national events, and most car meets tend to be concentrated around the summer months. I think that's why our Rutland meet has been so popular, as it fits into a big gap in the Porsche community calender.

Except for those of use who SORN over the winter ;-)
As Paul has said, getting a meet from a standing start is difficult. In the (good) old days of Titanic you would consider a "meet" to be three cars. If you can ensure that nucleus can meet it will grow (or not). Some times we would have three, sometimes twelve. 6 is actually a convenient number for a convoy as any more becomes unwieldy. Note also now there are laws against convoys which there weren't back then (in the good old days).
Get an agreement with two other people (who you can trust to turn up) and if you get more consider it a bonus.

Well, that's rather my point; you'll never make everyone happy, or even a few happy, with whatever date and location you choose. So, just give them no options and set something in stone. If someone wants to do something on a different weekend, in a different place, they can organise it!
Failing that set a date and location and see who comes.
