Any Southerners fancy a meet up?

If people interested post where they are in the country then it might be easier to choose a fairly equal location distance wise.
Someone mentioned Kent, I'm in Wiltshire so scores on the doors please...

Don't forget that the 8th September is the Calke Abbey free register event. Not a good idea to clash with that weekend. [:)]

One thought, we could do the Kop Hill event?

http://www.kophillclimb.info/

We have a Club area anyway, and it's apparently a great event.

It is a very good event, I would highly recommend it if you're into historic vehicles (and the occasionaly new one), but I think if we're there officially (i.e. parked in the car club areas) then we have to arrive very early and leave very late as they don't allow much car movement during the day, so it would be quite a different event from a normal drive/lunch. There's a good couple of hours entertainment there, but a whole day might drag.

Funnily enough the Chiltern run route I had in my mind would include both driving up Kop Hill and Aston Hill, as we have two interesting and historic hill climbs here that are also public roads.

Going off topic, but talking of great events, I would highly recommend www.brmday.co.uk, the first one was quite simply the most amazing car event I've been to (better than the first Goodwood FOS and Revival for example), I suspect it will be watered down after the last one (the street circuit saw some pretty high speeds, just feet away with no barries - stunning!), it looks like it will be a shorter parade this time but if it's even 1/10th of that day then it would still be worth a trip to anyone with petrol in their veins.

22nd/23rd September is the Britcar 24hr weekend, where I will be cheering on the front engined cars in the Porsche Club Championship.

Hi Glenn,

Are you Doodling for the 1st & 2nd then?

Ah... didn't spot the "doodle". No, unfortunately I have to do the day-job on the 1st and 2nd. I've put in for the 15th/16th and tentatively the 9th (assuming I can get out of a trip to Poznan).

Would love a southernn meet up event - Am away on holiday the first week of September but if something gets off the ground on another date will look to be there [:)] I always enjoyed the Goodwood/Brighton/Beachy Haed runs so something like that would be great or a Chiltern gathering...

Gaydon is hardly "North"; in fact it's South of Warwick so not even "middle" tbh. M40 J12 or thereabouts. It's a very interesting motor museum with some real oddities and shows you how we could still have had a British motor industry if some of the more imaginative concept cars there had been allowed into production.

Brighton has little (well, nothing frankly) to interest me... I have always loathed the place.

That being said, I am open to most suggestions assuming the date works.

Well i love it Glenn. It is a buzzing ,lively town with a great atmosphere and some very nice, friendly people. Great bars and restaurants and, it hosts some quite excellent car meets and events, The Brighton Speed Trials and Brighton Breeze (VW's)amongst them. Madeira Drive is alive with some very serious machinery on most Saturday nights and is the reason that a lot of car clubs, forum based ones included, like to meet up here. So, why do you "loathe" it so much anyway? Not that it matters. I'd be up for meeting down this way or the Chilterns i really don't mind. Saturdays is best for me though coz of the kids but if Sunday turns out to be the better day for everyone then,so be it. I'm in either way.

I'd almost certainly be up for the Chiltern option and pretty flexible on date. Haven't been to a get together for errr....years!

It tries too hard. It's like one of those people you sometimes meet who always have a big happy grin plastered on their faces, are always enthusiastic and bouncy but never are depressed or crotchety, never sad or melancholy regardless of reality. They make my teeth itch and so does Brighton. The place gives me the creeps.

But no, it doesn't really matter. There's nothing that forces me to go there so that's fine.
