Any Other Boxster RS60 Spyder Owners

Ctek 3.8 or 5.0 work fine. Attached the quick connector permanently to the battery and connect the charger as often as required in seconds. Ctek also have a great conditioning program which will check the health of the battery. The battery type selector is on the charger and is switchable. Highly recommended ??

Many thanks to those who responded, tomorrow I’ll go on
line and buy one. Another bit of TLC for my treasured Boxster!

Hi , sorry about the delay in reply. When I bought my car the previous owner obviously had Ctek charger / Conditioner and the battery terminal connectors were already on the terminals , all I had to do was use the two pin connection you get with the kit and connect up and switch on. Straight to the battery is convenient to me as the car is in my garage front in , I have a side door which opens into the garage at the nearside to the car where the battery is easy accessible. Power point on the wall next to the car, easy connection.

Chose to connect direct to the battery because from what I understand, the cig socket closes down after a few hours ( maybe wrong here! ) and it seemed the obvious solution to connect direct to battery, as its the battery you are topping up/maintaining. Yes, I connected to both battery terminals. Re the output ratings of the chargers, go for one 3.8 amp or higher. The Ctek is the most popular but many owners have picked less expensive alternatives which do exactly the same job.

Bit late to this but I have an RS60 (no 1584), owned since June last year. Great Car still loving it. I too was horrified at its propensity to pick up gravel rash! Also one of the valves on the PSE has got a bit of a rattle now and needs to be replaced, tried the repair route but its a no go. :(

Currently tucked up in the garage waiting for a day that is at least a bit dry!

HI Ian - i have number 535 - red hood and interior, manual with Sport Chrono - love it - have had a 2.5 986, a 2.7 987, then a 550 Anniversary before this one. I'd love another 550 one day as it was a bit rawer - but the RS60 is great - had it for longer than i normally keep cars and i can't see it going anywhere any time soon. TBH its sort of turning into a weekend car as i decided (hideously expensively as it turns out!) to get a 996 as a daily driver.

Hi Chris , thanks for your post. Getting a very good vibe about the RS60 from owners in the club. Like you mine is a weekend / fair weather car , wish could use more but want to keep in good order and no need for it as daily car.
Looking to get out in it more this year, hopefully more club events and maybe a register meet. Hopefully first visit to club HQ in March.

Hi , thanks for your response , great to here thoughts of other owners. Took mine out for a good drive on Sunday and it's great. Had been hoping to drive to Cornbury for the recent open days , unfortunately bad weather on both occasions meant having to wait to make my first visit. Let's hope for a good long summer.

Hi Hendy

Yes they are a joy to drive, no issues with mine apart from a miniscule oil leak from one of the cam positioning solenoids. A quick fix at my OPC with a new O ring. Mine is number 1254. I know they are basically a maxed out standard 987.1S model, a few more horses and different binnacle but I love it and the fact it is limited edition means it should hold its price a wee bit better. Enjoy it. First big run out for mine is in May to Northern Ireland to the in - laws, looking forward to ragging it along the north coast road. ??

Hi Steve , thanks for posting. Starting to get more use of mine , booked for Simply Porsche at Beaulieu in June , really good event , only saw one other RS60 last year.

All the best. Ian.

Hi,

I am a fairly recent new member to Porsche Club GB so only just caught up on the RS60 post.

I have had an RS60 for a couple of years and I have found it to be great fun. I have number 1855 out of the 1960 and it came with the sports chrono and sat nav options. I have not had any problems with it since I bought it and have really enjoyed owning it.

I know it is a bit dated as a question, but did you get a view on how many RS60s there are in the club please?

Tim

Reading this post reminded me that I have the registration RS06BOX on retention from my RS60 days. Happy to consider selling if anyone’s interested. Drop me a message if so - Regards, Nick.

Good afternoon,

I am fairly new member of the Porsche Club and wondered if anyone had a view on how many RS60 members there are in the Porsche Club GB please?

Also, have there been any events run in the past for RS60 owners that anyone is aware of please?

Tim

To the RS60 owners, how have you found the car since buying and has anyone run into any high repair bills or is there any potential issues with the RS60?

Thank you,

Phil

Hi Phil
