Am I just expecting too much? OPC Experience

How have you got on?

Ive just ordered a GTS and asked about price rises. They said it wasnt protected so if they rose it would be passed on BUT the finance terms would be same just with a higher price

Interestingly if you are buying with finance the price rise has actually made the car cheaper. As they have raised the GFV from £38095 to £41586 after 48 months. So your paying less a month even though the car costs more

man maths at work. You pay more and it costs more if you want to own it.

It's still on-going, although have some answers, apparently if you car was ordered before 15 November 21 and it falls in model year which I believe is June/July (no-one has yet confirmed) then apparently the original price will stand, however, the new order form the dealer has sent through has the increased price on it which confuses me somewhat as my car is due to be delivered in May i.e. prior to model year.

I have emailed Porsche UK which were not very useful in their first response although have followed up again to try and get a definitive answer on exactly what is the policy.

If you keep it then yes you will pay more. As you will have 41k to pay not 38k

But if you change your car before you get to the end, or you give it back at the end you will have paid less even though the price is higher

It’s worth noting they’ve recently increased the APR by 0.5% to offset some of the reduction in monthly payments because of the much higher GFV (the GFV has increased more than the price increase of the car)

Something else to bear in mind is the much higher GFV and smaller gap between that and the price of the car means it maybe harder to sell it mid term and not lose out.

If you’ve done a deal at the old APR and GMFV the dealership shouldn’t move you into the higher rate APR however, if the rate drops they ‘should’ move you on to the better deal. Sometimes it’s better to keep an eye on rates on The Porsche website.

I’ve done my deal based on a 5.9% APR. An increase in this could be a deal breaker for some.

Dan.

On the finance quotes I’ve got it says valid for 30 days. As the finance is through VW finance I suspect, but could be wrong, that any finance quote done before the actual order and more than 30 days out won’t be binding. Certainly something I doubt the OPC has any influence over.

Indeed you’re correct but if you’ve done a deal and placed an order you have a binding contract at the previous rate. Unfortunately if you’ve got a quote over 30 days old and not placed an order, you’ll be subject to a new quote at the new rate.

Dan.

Some good news for me today, Porsche has confirmed to the OPC that my order is price protected and I will pay the original price.

Got there in the end and the right as well as a positive outcome.

Great news. Makes the effort of fighting with Porsche and the OPC worth it.

It's not unreasonable to expect a high level of customer service, especially when dealing with a premium brand like Porsche. It was no longer a driver's license issue there, however, many quickly scannable fake id helped because they had to travel to another state. While it's true that certain requests might involve additional costs or may not align with standard procedures, a good dealership should work with you to find reasonable solutions or provide clear explanations.

This thread resurrection may well be an example of missing - confused data, I vaguely recall the original post which did have more responses

When I searched for an own personal `extensive` thread all that I found was the original post

Yes, the loss of historical posts does seem to be one of the most significant problems with the new setup Andrew. I’ve noticed that quite a few of my posts on the Cayman forum are missing, on the longer threads maybe? The trend seems to be that the original post is there but then there’s a significant gap to more recent posts?

I’m sure that this is being reviewed urgently by the team.

I"m invested now, having read this far! Did the car arrive on time? Was Ryan happy with the car, and collection experience? Did Topaz sort out the lettering? I need to know! :)
