Aftermarket Exhaust and Porsche Warranty

Just after a bit of info on the official Porsche warranty and aftermarket exhausts.

If a car has an aftermarket exhaust and goes to the OPC for a service, will the centre take note/void the warranty at that point. Or would it only be a risk of the warranty being voided if the exhaust is installed and discovered at the point you need to make a claim.

I’m considering adding an exhaust and interested to know if it would need to be removed and official Porsche parts reinstated before a service.

My thoughts being that I could always put back to stock should I need to make a claim. But to do this at each service might be a little too much effort!

Many thanks

If you look on Auto Trader there is cars for sale from porsche dealers with warrantys with aftermarket exhausts fitted, Think if its just a backbox with leaving cats/opf intact etc must be ok, Everyone likes a bit of noise from a Porsche, Lets face it thats what most people want, “Unless you like Electric cars” 🤮

Depends whether you mean the original new car warranty or the Porsche Approved (ie extended) warranty. Different rules apply to each. OPCs can differ in their interpretation of each (not necessarily correctly) and the rigour with which they apply them.

I agree with Brian (particularly in the difference between the original new car warranty and the extended one). For what it is worth my experience of non standard Porsches (admitedly not with exhaust changes), is that it varies between OPCs, and is only likely to be raised if you try to make a claim and it might be related to the exhaust. However some seem to interpet it literally, while others ignore it. It is a pretty common issue, so it might be worth a chat with the relevant OPC and determine their view.
