Admiral insurance

Anyone got their car insured by Admiral is it true that you need to list all factory options to them as their t&c state that modification means anything that’s added to the car that isn’t standard specification this is a new one on me I thought modification meant aftermarket accessories but apparently not,any views on this appreciated

I’m with Admiral.

It means anything that’s not on the build sheet.

I have the sports design ducktail and front apron on my car which was fitted retrospectively so not on the build sheet and had to declare them

I have been with Admiral for a few years. I listed all my options when I set it up, and then any modifications (ppf and stereo upgrade).

All of my family cars are with Admiral.

The online quotation system is good but I find it's easier to speak to someone rather than relying on what your perception of a modification is. The only thing they put down as a mod was the extended leather and paint, oh, and PPF but none of those raised the cost.

My son had a no fault claim and they were excellent and the car was repaired in 3 weeks (waiting for parts). They only use genuine parts unless the repairer can't get new due to age. My Son's insurance also went down at renewal.

I suppose it's better to over declare rather than under I suppose but in 4 years We've had no issues (touch wood).

Please ensure you mention if you have PPF as its classified as paintwork modification. I am with Admiral (mulitcar) and I was told it could void the insurance claim if I hadn't told them.

Other than that, no issues at all, except I cant understand why my 911 Targa insurance is cheaper that my 9 year old Macan!!

Because SUVs are being stolen for fun at the moment Peter. Try insuring a Range Rover....you'd most probably be told no.

I would say no, because that is standard on all 911s. i.e. it is not even an option, let alone a modification.

Sorry Tim that is incorrect.

It may well be for the newer 911s but it certainly wasn't standard on my 2019, 2020 and 2022 992's.

In 2020 it was a £1347 option and it was called ASV Protective Foil Front -Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur

Peter,

I believe that we were talking about the “shark fin“ panel forward of the rear wheels, which is standard. If not then apologies for the confusion!

Full PPF here and twice noted with Admiral (when new and then 1st renewal) and both times no extra charge.

Admiral's terms include not covering "organised motoring events". See Admiral's "Your Car Insurance Guide", "General Exceptions" item h. On other forums they have indicated to customers who have asked that this exception includes just about everything I do with PCGB and another car club, including organised drives out etc. Before getting a quote from them I emailed them to check and they told me they wouldn't answer by email, ring them up. I decided not to bother.

Are people insured with Admiral finding that the renewals have increased 30% ? A year ago Admiral was one of the cheapest on the price comparison sites and now it is not there ? Sheilas wheels and e sure appear and are very cheap for a new 992.2 Carrera
