I decided I could do with a bit less yellow in my cabin. So here are "before" and "after" pictures. The purists will no doubt prefer the second shot.

I should have added that the clock was replaced at the same time (so now works) and the additional boost gauge moved to inside the glove box (as you can't look at it while you're on-boost anyway as you're too busy concentrating on the rapidly approaching horizon!).

Bought the new dash board strips and buttons and so forth from Porsche Exeter - nice people to deal with and a good club discount.

Count me among the purists!! Just need some new dials - and maybe a seat refurb!! [:D][:D]You made a really good job of fitting those parts, I would not be brave enough to take the dash apart.

Ewan, think both shots look good I actually like the yellow dash inserts compliments the seat and mat piping, I think I may have kept that and lost the dials?

Interestingly, I used to have the silver inserts and the switch surround in silver, replaced those with brand new inserts, thought it was to bland so had them painted/laquered body colour.

Also replaced the cassette holder with a new oddments pocket and we have the same Kenwood mask!!

And a couple of up-to-date exterior shots as well. Obviously the purists won't appreciate the random "s" on the tailgate. But it puts a smile on my face, so there it'll stay (for now).

Chris - don't for a minute think that I did the work! I can't/won't change a light bulb. It was all done by Steve Bull Porsche in Devizes. It's the first time I've used them and they were excellent.

Andy - the plan with the dial is to revert to normal for the outer two (fuel and battery) but keep the speedo and rev counter yellow. I was testing a California the other day and the way that current Ferraris have yellow rev counters really appeals to me. I'm planing on having Steve do this in a couple of weeks along with a service and a drivers side door lock repair.

Of course, if it looks rubbish I can swap in more standard black dials or just refit the outer yellows. Fun and games.

And having kept all the yellow dash bits they can always be swapped back in at a later date if required.

Definitely better, I'm no purist but I do like things to look period, I quite like the yellow piped seat and carpet and once you remove some of the yellow from the dials I think it will look about spot on. Less is definitely more sometimes...

Dial plan sounds interesting, look forward to a pic of that, changing the dash inserts is fairly easy although when you have nice new painted parts it does get a bit nerve racking, removing the screw covers is the worst - one slip of the screwdriver and all that!

Looking good. Do you happen to know the ball park prices for the heater control surround and passenger side insert?

Glen - I replaced all 6 sections of the dash and the total price including delivery and Vat was £90. The bits you mention were about £15 each.

It's so subjective; I love coloured dash trim, although yellow is a step too far for me I think, but hate coloured dials and piping on the seats! [&:]

I plan to do all my dash as three bits are cracked, and am going to have them sprayed in the body colour. I think Andy's piano black is spot-on, and my dark metallic grey should work.

Phil - it was ordered by JMG Porsche when they were replacing lots of bits last year, so I'm not sure where it came fom originally. But I imagine it was direct from Porsche at an appropriate price!

Pretty much echo what Ed Copperman has said, i like the piping on the seats and carpets (subtle) standard clocks please, and address the badge engineering (Turbo S) again just my personal opinion, it is your car and you rightly so, can do what ever suits you.
Carr looks very nice from the exterior pics BTW. *Will i get scalded for text speak* [:(]

Thanks. I've got a slight crack in one and the other is a bit warped. It is not really noticeable unless you look closely but for £30 it would seem to be worth replacing them.

Depending which bits you need you might want to replace the lot. I changed one on the Lux and it was a noticeably different shade and texture. Didn't show as it was the bit to the right of the wheel, but the others might look odd.

Yup, you can't get away with changing one piece really.

I replaced the long clock trim piece and as Paul said it was black and textured, not brownish and rubbed smooth like the rest of it.

I primered all the trim and sprayed it gloss black anyway so it wasn't an issue really.

I actually like it - almost Clubsport'esque and if you had the 968 seats with painted backs...................[8D]
