991 GTS

Had a voice mail from Porsche today to see if I was interested in the 991 GTS , according to the message, to be launched end of the year.
-anyone know spec details or anticipated price?

I *believe* that the facelift 991 will be launched at the Los Angeles motor show around 18th-20th November, I plan to visit the show on the 21st so I will post pictures etc...

I'm also interested in a 2WD GTS Cabriolet

I can't see a 'facelift' for at least 12 months (2016 MY) - a GTS would confirm that the current model still has life remaining.

4 years would be the Gen 1 normal model life. Gen 1 GT3s and Turbos are only fairly recent.

MY2016 production will start around March-July 2015 ... prior to the factory holiday in August, at least for N.A deliveries ...

we will know by Nov 21st, I will post details of my visit down to L.A ...

Yeah I'm guessing it will essentially be similar to the 50th anniversary edition spec (minus some of the retro cosmetics) and
a price point around $120-125k ...

It has to fit in somewhere below the GT3 and Targa4S MSRP


Interesting question will be what cosmetics the GTS will have ... CL wheels from the GT3???

Good to know pretty much confirms that such a car is in the works, so we will either see it in Paris at the start
of October, or L.A in Nov.

I dont expect any surprises, I expect it to be pretty much the same formula as the 997 GTS; wide-body, 2WD & 4WD,
Coupe and Cabriolet, X51 powerkit as std, optional CL wheels, lots of alacantara in the interior, along with probably the
facelift cosmetics, including the new Macan steering wheel ... priced around that of the 50th aniversary.

Interesting that they are persisting with the 7 speed manual box. I haven't ever driven one but the initial reception amongst journos seemed lukewarm.

I see the trickle down continues for Centre locks so perhaps at some point they will become NCO, thus losing their cachet of being "a desirable option for resale", and we will be able to go back to specifying 5 stud without prejudicing trade in bids.

Also hopefully the use of the turbo wheels might mean more choice of N rated tyres.

So one or two issues but nevertheless an attractive looking package. Interesting.....

Nice to see the spec, basically a powerkit and part of the cupaerokit , some suspension mods got all that, not a big fan
of centre locks so looks as if a rear gts badge is all I need! Lol.[]
Wonder if its in 2 and 4wd as per the last gts?.

It is in 2 and 4 wheel and if everything is correct as you read they are both wide bodied.

Centre Locks + PCCBs would elevate the 'GTS' status, and the combined unsprung weight saving would be a significant benefit.

Though, de-badging all the clutter on the rear lid would be top of my options []

They're great cars but I don't see the point of introducing these models alongside the S in the middle of the 991 product cycle when there is yet to be a 991 Gen 2. With the 997, I totally got the GTS as is came at the end of the 997 and was superceded by a complete new model, the 991. So what will a gen 2 991 S be like, an anticlimax perhaps if it offers pretty much nothing over a gen 1 GTS. Also it's not much of a differentiation to the S to justify the GTS, so early in the product cycle. OK the 997 GTS used the same ingredients but it was at the end of the product cycle. The 991 S now has another variant to devalue it in the bragging rights. Same with 981 - do we really need 3 981 models. The 981 GTS is mostly a cosmetic upgrade over the the S (some of which is optional!) and a small power upgrade that makes the two models too close together in performance for a long standing model catalogue. Special edition, yes, permanent catalogue of S and GTS together seems more about how deep your pockets are rather than 2 distinct models. Yes the 991 GTS has the wide body, but make that available on the S, with powerkit and front apron and you're there...
