991.2 Targa 4S - catalytic converter

Hi

First post on here and wish it was a happier, or at least a less expensive, one!

I noticed a knocking noise under rear right hand side of vehicle when going over uneven surface. I suspected a loose exhaust piece perhaps and visited 2 local tyre and exhaust places (for second opinions) an d both arrived at the conclusion it was the catalytic converter and suggested I contact Porsche main dealer. I'm booked-in for a technical review next week but wondered if anyone else had the misfortune of having to replace this?

I've googled prices and it rather mouthwatering but you can't always trust the Internet. My local dealer does offer 10% discount for PCGB members and this will likely cover membership costs for several years I suspect...

Anyone else had to deal hit this and any handy hint or tips to share?

Hi, I presume you have no warranty on the Targa? The catalytic converter is not a serviceable item, it should last the lifetime of the car so Google says

No warranty sadly. Let's hope Kwik Fit and Halfords diagnosed it incorrectly and there's something else afoot. I fear the worst.

Update: Kwik Fit and Halfords DID diagnose incorrectly. The great news is this is *only* going to cost me £1200 to replace two rear springs..a fraction of what I understand the Cat would cost.
