Just a query about the rear lowering mirror which should actuate when putting in to reverse gear. My car is a 2013 991.1 with PDK and PCM which has a selection on the screen for choosing the rear lowering mirror function. However this does not work which is a pity as I liked this on my 996. I am told that this will not work on my car as it does not have the memory function (which I believe are switches fitted to the door on some models for the electric seats and mirrors). Does anyone know if this is definitely the case? It seems strange that Porsche put this option on the PCM if it is not available.

991.1 Rear Lowering Mirror

If you haven’t got it from factory then you won’t be able to simply code it in. I’m sure a retro fit is available if you want to, however it would also include replacing some wiring looms etc.
So it’s just the case of how badly do you want it, and what it’s worth to you.
I have the function, but as it’s a low car it’s not as needed as much as some I would happily live without it… but glad I have it all the same

I have 991.2 without the memory package. Manual 4 way seat
And the research I have done seems to confirm your findings - no reverse dip mirror
It’s highly annoying as I really use this feature.
I would be keen to know if it could be ‘coded’ or actually it’s missing some module / sensors to make this function work…

As far as I know the memory package is required to actually store the "normal" position of the mirror - some folks with 981 s have found that you can use the Carly VW coding module to directly program the door module - but the results are just a small, almost useless movement in the mirror and those that have done it have said not worth the effort.
As you say - odd it's presented as an option ( if that's just on one car then perhaps a previous owner had some aftermarket coding to enable it in the PCM - without the corresponding other bits)
