991.1 PCM unit failure - solutions?

Has anyone encountered the dreaded PCM failure / reboot issue on the 991.1 generation and found a solution that doesn't involve replacing the entire unit for £3,000 (as quoted to me today by OPC Swindon - yes, I didn't follow thorugh with an extended warranty)?
I'm very much minded to continue without the PCM and listen to music via phones and AirPods. Surely there must be a way to effect a repair?
 

Panamera PCM rebooting

Hi, Pan PCM 3.1 rebooting every 5 mins. Tried hard resetting of unit etc. I suspect hard drive faulty. I found web site on how to clone hard drive and replace with SSD. If my HDD corrupt will it clone? Only other option sending off for repair. Any advice welcome

I had a EPROM failure on my PCM 3.1. The unit showed the Porsche logo and rebooted every 10-15 seconds
If its rebooting every few minutes then its likely to be the hard drive corrupted
There are in depth threads on Rennlist forums on how to diy solve this unfortunately quite common problem with the 3.1
However if its the processor then a replacement unit will be needed.
I recommend contacting NM Automotive to diagnose and sort
