My stock GTS manual I’ve now owned 9 years, 70k miles, 2 or 3 track days a year and it will be a lifetime keeper. It’s OPC serviced and under warranty but I’m now thinking of aftermarket remap/tuning/ exhaust. Having trawled the forum and other sites, there doesn’t seem to have been much activity in this area - I’m Bucks based and surrounded by great independent specialists like RPM, Autofarm and JZM who I will talk to but wondered if anybody on here had improved their GTS and what advice they might give? I appreciate power gains will be minimal but the objective is really just to fine tune on the engine side what I have done on the suspension side with Center Gravity.

Really good so far; they diagnosed an issue that none of the OPC's had and it's going back before Christmas to have work undertaken including the geo set up.

If you like your car overall - go for more drivability rather than top end power i.e. more responsiveness and likely higher mid rev power than in stock tune
Area under the curve matters (power across rev range as opposed to a spiky but high peak at the top end) - A high peak power may mean a compromise in lower power at lower and middle revs.
Pick up and response and more in gear punch are important for fast road driving
Air intake/filters and Exhaust can help the car breath better - lower back pressure and better throttle response
There are three BUTs here
1) I would now be wary on de-catting or change to 200 cell cats, legislation is tightening up on emissions and on garages. In the next few years likely an automatic MOT fail if you don't have standard road car cats.
So something to bear in mind
2) If your touring Europe make sure your changes have compliance certificates ECE, ABE and/or TUV
3) You are opening pandora's box, so be prepared. An ideal tweak to a car should be balanced, i.e. power upgrades to handling to brakes and suspension/tires etc. Overdo one and the others will need doing, so it can become a costly spiral until its just past the point of you enjoying it
For my 991 Turbo S I have tweaked it for more driver engagement and drive-ability and left it there.
- Techart Powerkit for better drivability
- Cat back Akrapovic exhaust for a better noise and take weight out of the back
- Eventuri intake to improve noise, engine breathing and take weight out of the back.
- DMS Controller to help with ride and handling (stock dampers)
- Centre Gravity set up for fast road
The Techart controls the power curve so the Eventuri and Akrapovic just improve the noise, and engine breathing which helps lower engine stress, improve longevity and low rev throttle response.
Mrs has nicknamed it Vader due to the intake/induction noise now sounding like the Darth Vader breathing sound effect......
The noise overall is much improved inside and from others feedback outside as well.
