991.1 C2S overrun noise muted

Over the past year I’ve noticed the overrun ‘pops & crackles’ have become very feint when lifting off in sports mode. My local independent garage couldn’t fix it so I ended up taking it to a main dealer who replaced the rear exhaust box as the actuators were sticking. The crackles have not come back to the level they were when I bought the car and the occasional crackle I do hear is very muffled. They said it sounded normal but it would take a while for the exhaust to run in and for the slight burning smell to go away. It’s MOT is due next month and they will take another look. I just wanted to know if any other 991.1 owners can clearly hear the overrun sound and if anyone has experienced a similar issue or has suggestions on how to get the crackles back.
