Hello everyone.
I have just bought the purple 968 clubsport recently advertised on pistonheads which is pretty much set up as a purpose built track car which can be driven on the road to and from the track.
I picked the car up in July and my son followed me the 100 miles back having kindly given me the lift to pick it up. He commented that the car appeared to smoke under acceleration and also when coasting. The car feels on the button and has plenty of power. I have not had chance to drive the car much since and i thought before i took it on a track day I would let my local independant Chris Sargeant at GCR in leicester give it a once over. The smoke on start up was noticeable so Chris thought he would change the valve seals as a starting point however it was noticeable on cylinder number 1 that the spark plug and chamber was full of oil. We have removed the head to discover Cylinder 1 is absolutely caked in a sooty residue and need to get to the cause of this.
Have any of you had similar issues ?
The previous owner on its last service reported a miss fire and EMC replaced the magnecor spark plug leads and spark plugs for standard ones and this sorted the miss fire. There is also evidence that the head gasket has recently been replaced but no record of other work completed. Any input would be appreciated as it looks like an expensive month ahead .
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Alan
