968 clubsport help

Hello everyone.
I have just bought the purple 968 clubsport recently advertised on pistonheads which is pretty much set up as a purpose built track car which can be driven on the road to and from the track.
I picked the car up in July and my son followed me the 100 miles back having kindly given me the lift to pick it up. He commented that the car appeared to smoke under acceleration and also when coasting. The car feels on the button and has plenty of power. I have not had chance to drive the car much since and i thought before i took it on a track day I would let my local independant Chris Sargeant at GCR in leicester give it a once over. The smoke on start up was noticeable so Chris thought he would change the valve seals as a starting point however it was noticeable on cylinder number 1 that the spark plug and chamber was full of oil. We have removed the head to discover Cylinder 1 is absolutely caked in a sooty residue and need to get to the cause of this.
Have any of you had similar issues ?
The previous owner on its last service reported a miss fire and EMC replaced the magnecor spark plug leads and spark plugs for standard ones and this sorted the miss fire. There is also evidence that the head gasket has recently been replaced but no record of other work completed. Any input would be appreciated as it looks like an expensive month ahead .
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Alan

Hi Alan,
Sorry to hear of your problems, not the best start to ownership. I haven't heard of your issues before, perhaps you could give one of the 968 experts a call to discuss things, I'd try Ninex, Northway or EMC for advice if it happened to me.
Cheers Rich

Thanks for the replies so far.
This is a close up of cylinder number 1 as the first picture i posted was out of focus.
This cant be normal surely and could it cause missfire as well ?

Any scores in the bore?

oil can only get in there in a few ways

crack from oil gallery to intake port
stem seal not fitted correctly
oil control ring stuck or broken

cant think of anything else off the top of my head

No scores in the bore that we can see. We have changed the stem seal already and sent the head away for inspection.
Daft question but there should be no oil in the spark plug ignition chamber if the engine is healthy !

It would be very odd to see that much oil in a combustion chamber, you mention the head has been checked but I would still have the valve springs off those 4 valves and check the stem seals.

a stuck or broken ring is a bit more of an issue,

one guy guy onthe other forum had an oil use / burn issue and it was solved by new rings, an expensive job
