Hi guys,
Finaly got to meet Jon Mitchell on Saturday at long last and, i must first of all say, what a thoroughly knowledgeable nice fellow he is! We stood by my car and discussed what my aspirations were for it for about an hour. He really was interested in what i had to say and made some excellent suggestions and gave me lots of ideas to go home and think about. It only took me 1.5hrs from Brighton to Christchurch early on Saturday morning in what i can only describe as a "spirited drive". The car drove like a dream and pulled like a train. Everything felt tight and solid, no knocks, rattles or bangs. I have left the car with Jon to carry out a zillion point inspection prior to a full big service and belt changes. Also oil upgrades to Mobil 1, and upgraded gearbox oil. There are a few faults that i want Jon to rectify oh, and some new brake pads (Pagid Black's i think were recommended). Then i want it back for a couple of months fun before taking it back to him early novenber for a full winter engine rebuild (2.5lt), complete with a forged knife edge crank,Mahle pistons, re-profiled cam, uprated roller turbo, custom chip etc, etc. I will probably go for KW suspension too and a Superflex polybush set up throughout. Well, something along those lines. I think i want the reliability of a 2.5lt than to start pursuing big horse power figures with big, stroker engines. Anyway, i trust in Jon Mitchells expertise and advice as i know precious little about the fundamentals of automobile technology (i'm a plumber after all)!! Can't wait to start enjoting it though!
