944 Turbo Cup

I don't think they'll get that (unless it has provenance to have been raced by Walter Rohl [:)] )

Thoms friend had been trying to sell his Cup for a while at under £20k with a garage load of spares and had no luck [:(]

Haven't seen it advertised for a while now though, so may be its gone
 
This one has been for sale for years.
For the anecdote, being an '86 it cannot be road registered in France because the french Turbo Cup started in '87 so there is no type approval for an '86 Cup VIN.

Paul - I do not personnally know the Swiss owner of the other car and I've never seen his car, though on pictures it does look very good.
 
For that sort of money you would be far better building one from a R/H drive car - circuits go clockwise (predominantly) so you have better weight distribution with the driver on the right.

Granted you don't get the history, but then if you are going to use the car for what it was built for do you want the added burden of damaging something with history? If you just want to drive around an pose at shows, then I still think you would get as many admiring glances with a well prepared stripped out non-original - we'll see when Fen turns up at Brands. [;)]
 
I doubt mine will turn many heads at Brands. Maybe if I let someone with some ability drive it on a track day it might generate some interest.

I don't especially want to sell it but once it's done I might advertise it on Pistonheads for the build cost. I reckon I could do it for less second time around (but I won't [;)]) and it'll be up for something like £28k. Does that mean if I could have balc what I spent on it I would? Probably, but it's never going to happen and I'm not losing any sleep over that.

That looks like a superb car, so you are the one who bought it from Springbok? Congratulations!

I think you may find it somewhat old fashioned. I had a load of pics somewhere of cup car interiors, one of em seemed to have a bolted in cage which surprised me. I also know what the 968 motorsport body shell's Matter cage looks like because EMC had one of these shells and ISTR its now the car that Andy Toon is racing in this years Championship. If I was building a car again I am pretty sure I would go for a Custom Cages T45 job.
