944 N/A tuning - Augment Automotive

I recently bought 911 &PW and this company, Augment Automotive, had a little featurette and it says that they can retune N/A's by a new engine management upgrade plus a few other tweaks. And apparently Steve Bennett will be doing a proper future in a future edition.

Does anyone know anything about them or have any thoughts as to whether its worth it? Not really interested in messing about with my NA but someone may think its worth it achieving 190bhp for £800+.

Steve Bennet is a bit of a tool though. I remember when he was the work experience boy on CCC and he was rubbish.

Toms userid is Barks944. If you search for threads posted by him in the 944 section within the last year you should find a lot of his research as he designs the system for his own car

Ahh yes I remember that thread. I ignored it as I thought it was too techy [:D][8|]

Sounds as though Tom has a seriously good product there, if and when funds allow i will be talking to him, he has done a load of work and research in to these ECU's well done fella !

Thanks guys, there's so much to be gained with these engines. Can't get over the improvements, my lux and my 944 turbo are transformed. Feels like a modern engine. I've just got closed loop fueling working which is great for fuel consumption too. It works with a wideband sensor so rather than just going to stoimetric you can run a little leaner for even better economy than with a narrowband sensor. I'm also about to implement closed loop knock detection for automatic ignition advance/retard based on knock detection which will give even more performance and economy. Lots of 944 tuning adventures ahead I hope!

When are you going to do an S2 version?

I must admit I fancy a play with this, it is tempting me to stick with the porsche engine rather than going LS3 in the coupe, if it can offer better protection than the factory set up and be flexible on boost levels it is appealing.

There are over twice as many S2's still on the road than Turbos so it's a much bigger potential market place to recoup your costs and even make profit [:)]

Arguably S2 owners are less likely to dabble than the Boosty Boys

If there's enough interest anythings possible!

me first please [:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]

seriously though I was thinking of throttle boddies mega-sqirt etc
Pretty easy on the S2 as the 60-1 timing wheel on the crank works well with aftermarket ECU's.
When I was running my 968/s2 engine fuel economy was very good, over 40 mpg on a run. Cant comment on power as there was a problem with the refurbed head which scrapped it within 2000 miles, before it went on a dyno.

I wonder...given that there's nothing out there for s2's apart from a chip + exhaust whereas theres lots of competition in turbo tuning. it's a fairly regular question "how do I get more power from my s2?"

As my car is just a track car so isn't used that often it could be a handy testbed? [:D] Throttle bodies would be even better but that's another level of expense again..there are also some packaging issues I think.

Given how much improvement I've found in the 8v engines I'm sure it would be worth it for the S2 as well. Where about's in the world are you edh?

Thread to top... Tom, how are you getting on with your ECU? Any particular progress?
