944 N/A tuning - Augment Automotive

Was hoping for a deal.....Lol.

To be fair EMC Motorsport have been using a modified fuel pressure regulator with a different ECU chip to boost the power to between 175-188bhp on 2.5 litre 8V cars, depending on the condition of the rest of the fuel system, for years. Race proven (Porsche Open Class 4) and available for about £420-450 plus cost of a session on a RR.
 
Yes, but the trade-off is terrible fuel consumption. Id imagine that Toms kit can equal the output whilst still improving economy. Not the first priority in a racer, of course.
 
An interesting (and valid) point. It would be good to see a back to back comparison that includes a view of road performance (driveability) and takes a view of the relative fuel consumption.

Of course, these days 8v 944s and 924S are so cheap to buy (relatively speaking, and inc race cars) that spending £750+ is a big decison to justify.
 
I am doing an economy article with 911 & Porsche world soon. I have wideband closed loop fueling ready and knock based ignition control in the works atm. We are aiming for 185bhp and 40mpg on a motorway run :). I will be using wasted spark ignition with gapped plugs and a lean burn. Coupled with optimised cold start and transient fueling. Should be interesting.
 
Unfortunately my odometer is broken but with closed loop fueling my car is definately improved. I do about 70 miles per day in it. I'm playing with the closed loop AFR target ATM. You get to a point where the mixture won't ignite and this is where wasted spark comes in. I've been talking with NGK to select a better plug for lean running. Also need to select an ignition system for my turbo. Thinking of aem smart coils which should generate plenty of volts to bridge the bigger gap. There's a lot of gain to be had. I'm also working on a switched eco mode which changes some of the fueling parameters to save fuel at the expense of throttle response.

Always interested to meet 924/944 owners so if anyone's near glos I would be happy to make tea have a chat and give demo's etc :)
 
I am also available to give track (its not road legal) demos of what can be done to the turbo engine with this system in the more northern areas of the country. Mind you my car is pretty far from a standard turbo these days.
