718 side grill retro fit letter

Naff indeed Dan, and the mesh definitely looks finer than the Mk1 version. Maybe cigarette butts are getting smaller! 😀

With all the confusion it does beg the question why Porsche only consider the grille to be necessary on the F-4T engine cars when cigarette butt ingress is just as likely on the n/a cars, assuming that’s the reason for its fitment. Perhaps it’s because the issue originated in the US on a 718 turbo engined car?

...and why only GT models have radiator grills?

I was told this morning that an updated intake grille for the 4.0 is in development and will be released when it's ready.

Leeds OPC that I’m booked into this Friday contacted me today to say:

“Porsche had incorrectly sent out recall letters to GT4, GTS and GT4 RS owners so your vehicle isn’t actually applicable to the recall.”

So I’m no longer booked in

They look a bit naff tbh and the fit isn't very good.

Hi Dan, did your OPC carry the retro fitting of the grills while you waited or did you have to leave it with them?

I've just rung my OPC and I've been told it's an error - no action required???

Odd, very odd, if Dan's booked in for the work!

Same thing happened to me. Letter in post, so I booked the car in , then opc advises it’s an error

Dan, can you tell how these are fastened in? From the photo it looks like they may have been pushed in with double sided tape. Sorry, but they don't look up to the standard you might expect.

I assume they accessed the area from the top, removing the engine cover within the cabin?

Hi Ralph, sorry for the late reply. Access was gained by removing the side intake trim and in turn the old grill and then replaced by the new one.

John, indeed they do and most probably just pushed in.

Dan
