718 side grill retro fit letter

Yes, my 4.0 GTS booked in just now. Although it was mid March before they can get me in based on workshop slots / part availability

Thanks for all of your replies

Rich

Interesting, mixed messages then! Same over on PistonHeads, GTS 4.0s seem to be getting booked in but no GT4s/Spyders.

My OPC's Service Manager has got back to me and says that for GT models, Spyder and 4.0 GTS the recall is not applicable and the notifications have been sent out in error. Porsche AG sent out a communication about this to him around 2pm this afternoon.

So if your 4.0 engined car is booked in for the work to be done, I'd give your OPC another call before you have a wasted trip [:)]

I attended Porsche Tonbridge about 2 years ago and my 2016 Boxster 718 was fitted with side grills. This week I also received a letter requesting that I arrange to have the side grills fitted. They also explained that the grills fitted two years ago are not up to the job.

I got my recall letter today, called Nottingham PC to get the work done and they say there is no requirement on my car (GTS 4.0). The letter contains my car's VIN number so I've been asked to take it over on my next visit for them to investigate. I'll be there on the 15th Feb as my Tracker system has failed for the second time in a few months...

Yet more evidence of the demise of the company's once legendary efficiency.

I recall that recall ... where the grilles fitted were those that were already fitted to 981`s, 981 recall next ?

I got my recall letter today as well, for my car MY2022 GTS4.0. My OPC were puzzled as they thought newer GTS4.0s didn't need the recall doing, and suspected that the VIN was for my previous, older GTS4.0. But no, the VIN was indeed for my current car. Very bizarre.

Informed by OPC that letter sent in error and no recall required - June 21 GTS 4.0.

Also VIN check on Porsche Cars site shows no recall.

I’ve just looked for my car on the Porsche recall web site, and it’s showing no recall for my car.

but the OPC have booked me in!

Yep; same. Had a letter, booked in but recall website says no recalls. Chaos!

I have received another letter about this. They changed the grilles in 2018 and now they are changing them again for a finer mesh. D

Anyone else with a GTS 4.0 booked in or just me?

Yes, Porsche Leeds have booked me in for 27th Jan. But they confess to being a little puzzled. Am quite expecting either phone call to say I don't need to come, or more annoying, going there to be told I didn't need to come.

I’m booked into Leeds this coming Friday so will update on what happens

Just had confirmation from Porsche Cars GB via my OPC that:

“Due to an allocation error, GT4/GT4 RS/GTS 4.0/Boxster 25 years & Spyder (982) vehicles have wrongly been added to this campaign.

This has now been corrected and the vehicles have been removed from this campaign.”

Just had mine done. Here are the new ones.

They look a bit naff tbh and the fit isn't very good.

Naff indeed Dan, and the mesh definitely looks finer than the Mk1 version. Maybe cigarette butts are getting smaller! 😀

With all the confusion it does beg the question why Porsche only consider the grille to be necessary on the F-4T engine cars when cigarette butt ingress is just as likely on the n/a cars, assuming that’s the reason for its fitment. Perhaps it’s because the issue originated in the US on a 718 turbo engined car?
