480bhp Carrera T

Iain had some disc ideas when I chatted to him ;)

I drove a mate's M3 on a track day recently. E46, old skool. It has some aftermarket brakes that make even mine feel lame. They were utterly amazing on track – could leave braking even later than with my 911. I'd like something like that :)

Oh yes, I’m sure that Iain would happily take some more money off me!

It’s certainly something on my to-do list. :)

Ah, right. I knew it was the Carrera engine, but thought it had the better brakes. I expect you're going to want to upgrade them with 480hp on tap then :ROFLMAO:

That might be the next thing on my shopping list...!

P.S. Many felt that adding the Carrera S brakes to the T would have been a nice addition.

That would have been nice... Really wishing I’d been able to get the pccb’s ... but you have to stop ticking options at some point!

Yep, this Porsche lark can sure be an expensive business! I was more economical on the options I specced on my T compared to my other two new Porsche purchases (Macan & Panamera) although I’m making up for it now! :ROFLMAO:

Yes - but what an amazing car results ... interested to hear how the brake options work out :)

Thanks. :)

Don’t hold your breath on the brake upgrade, as I need to rebuild my finances first! ;-)

Hey Simon,

How is the Carrera T these days after a few months of living with the Litchfield updates?

Hi!

All is good, thanks! :)

The T has covered over 28,100 miles now since April 2018, although obviously my chance to enjoy it right now is rather limited. [8|]

Excellent! It’s getting used, or was, properly then, nice! Any issues with the mods or all tickety boo? My S is finally getting the suspension done in a couple of weeks’ time. Might have to chat power with Iain whilst it’s there …

I originally just had the suspension work done at Litchfield Motors. While there, I drove Iain’s T, with him as co-pilot. That was it - I was sold! [:)]

There was a minor issue with the car, which may or may not have been caused by the mods, but Iain got it sorted very professionally and with no cost to me. ??

Being recent to the 991 scene, I had not appreciated you had developed your car with Litchfield. Whilst casually looking a year ago, RPM had a light blue Carrera T with Litchfield upgrades which looked tempting. When looking seriously recently I read a few articles about the upgrades and the back story to Litchfield Motors which shows a passion for modifying cars and with reliability in mind. There were none available at my time of searching however. I suspect your car will be among the higher mileage cars to have been modified by Litchfield since I presume most will be weekend cars (maybe I'm wrong) and therefore I would Imagine Litchfield would have interest to thoroughly investigate the car to prove the reliability of their modification. Having previously been down the modification route and been bitten by non-compatible upgrades I have become somewhat wary of modifying cars (too much) and proof that modifications made and successfully sustaining Ca 25,000 miles would be a very helpful confidence booster to people like me. Just a thought.

9e in Surrey also do the same type of performance modification and specialise in Porsches including 996 Turbos thru to 991 Turbo and turbo.2 generations. Their packages also involve gearbox/clutch where required on their >800hp packages.

Litchfield are a very impressive engineering based firm and have a well deserved reputation.

For clarity, my comments were not in doubt of the quality of engineering by Litchfield, rather that here exists an example successfully clocking up the miles without issue which is a good expression of the quality of their work. Examples like this must certainly help park any nagging concerns others might have about subjecting their expensive Porsche to such upgrades.

yes - very much agree! very reassuring to see a modified car without issues .. voiding the warranty is holding me back!

...and nagging feeling that I should have ticked the PCCB option!

Great post Simon, I would be interested to know how you get on in the long run. What package did you go for, I assume not just the £1000 one? - (I missed pages 2 and 3 in my original post, I have now read what you upgraded). I might look to do the 992 version in a few years. £1000 to take the 992 to 580bhp could be quite nuts.....

Hello, and thanks! [:)] As you’ve seen, I went for the full works! Suspension work, ECU remap, new manifolds, new sports CATs and a new Remus silencer. Am very happy. Litchfield Motors are a very professional outfit with a well deserved reputation and Iain is a really decent bloke. Car now on 28,200 miles and only 26 months old. [8D]

Just clocked up 30,000 miles/smiles in my April 2018 991.2 Carrera T!

?? Quality! Excellent that the engine mods are proving just as reliable as the original. How's the exhaust on a motorway cruise Simon? At all 'droney'?

I *love* the suspension mods Litchfield do. It's made my little Carrera S amazing on track. Chasing this GT3 around Donington back in August was excellent fun…

(Incidentally, that GT3 gets a good feature on Misha Charoudin's YouTube)

Hi! It can sometimes get a bit droney on the motorway. If it does, I just switch off the sport exhaust. :)

Wow! Just got my Carrera T back from Litchfield Motors.

Sounds and feels amazing!

New manifolds, Sports CATs, Remus silencer and ECU remap.

Power up by 31% to 480bhp and torque up by 23% to 408 lb ft.

The feel of the car and the sound are intoxicating. I’ll have to be careful or it could be a licence loser! [;)]
Just curious how much that set you back as I am interested to get mine done? Thanks.

From memory, somewhere around £10k for everything: suspension, spacers, remap, manifolds, silencer, sports CATs. This was some time ago though. Litchfield have updated their offering since then, so best to contact them.

Cheers,
