480bhp Carrera T

Wow! Just got my Carrera T back from Litchfield Motors.

Sounds and feels amazing!

New manifolds, Sports CATs, Remus silencer and ECU remap.

Power up by 31% to 480bhp and torque up by 23% to 408 lb ft.

The feel of the car and the sound are intoxicating. I’ll have to be careful or it could be a licence loser! []

Yes, Peter, I know that’s a risk. Any potential claim on warranty during the remainder of its term could be refused by Porsche. I went into this with my eyes open, but hey, we only live once, right!? [8D]

I just popped out to top up with 99 octane Shell fuel and even that relatively mundane task was ‘an event’ in my newly upgraded Carrera T!

Spot on, Dylan! Having a rather special Carrera T now, rather than waiting until April 2021, is worth the risk, in my view. I have just boosted my smiles per mile by some considerable margin. []

I spoke to Iain Litchfield yesterday when I collected my car. He pointed out that the temperature inside the Maha dyno cell was over 33 degrees yesterday afternoon. On a cooler day, he’s confident that my car would be closer to 490bhp and 450 lb ft. In fact he’s kindly offered a follow-up dyno session for my car when the weather is cooler.

Hi. Not as yet, but I wouldn’t rule it out. The T is my sole car and a daily driver. On average, I cover about 1,200 miles a month. Having said that, taking it on track could be fun! []

Oh it'll be amazing fun with that power and suspension! My Carrera S is my daily driver and I've had it on track a number of times. Did Cadwell Park recently, and that was amazing fun (a couple of laps on YouTube). Not half as much fun as drifting at Oulton Park mind (they have a low friction surface like at the Silverstone PEC – tremendous fun without shredding a set of tyres in a day).

Hi Terry. I use ManningUK. They have been very helpful and incredibly efficient. I first used them to insure my 2017 Panamera 4 and now my Carrera T. I’m covered for up to 18,000 miles per year. No increase in premium following my suspension and handling upgrades. The premium went up by 15% when the car’s power was increased by 32%. Not bad, I thought. []

Hi Mark. I think I should put taking my car on track on to my bucket list! [] I have been to Silverstone Porsche Experience Centre three times, but not driven anything there as powerful as my newly upgraded T! Cheers, Simon

Ha! Thank you The day didn't start out nice, it was raining I'd just put some Michelin Cup2s on for the day too. Got another video in the works to show how that went. If you particularly want to waste another 3 minutes of your life the drifting video I did at Oulton, under that same channel, is fun – if only to see how sweetly the 991 drifts.

Carrera - 365bhp & 331 lb ft.
Carrera S - 414bhp & 368 lb ft.
GTS - 444bhp & 405 lb ft.
991.1 GT3 - 468bhp & 324 lb ft.
991.2 GT3 - 493bhp & 339 lb ft.
992 Carrera S - 444bhp & 391 lb ft.

Iain Litchfield feels that the figures for my T would be closer to 490bhp and 450 lb ft when put on the dyno on a cooler day. Ambient temperature in the dyno cell was over 33 degrees centigrade on Wednesday! He's kindly offered a follow-up session on their dyno free of charge when the weather cools down. []

Thanks, Dylan! Am hoping that when I go back to Litchfield for a more temperate session on the dyno, that the bhp on my T will be within a whisker of that of the 991.2 GT3! []
