356 Forum YOUR RESPONCE PLEASE

I would like to ask you all if you have a 356 pasion. Would it be of use to have a 356 forum here on the PCGB site.

I am more than happy to push for it and look after it. I am currently restoring a 1954 356 and I do understand that there are not alot of 356 web users on the forum / club but I hope to change that alittle step by step.

I am mainly looking to get the use of the forum as a great way to show pictures for questions and answers some thing that the Great 356 registry web site can't do, if you follow and use it. Yes it is one of the best 356 forums in the world but it's limited. So as many of us here are members of both clubs. I would like to offer some thing for the members here. I have no interest in looking to take over the 356 side of the club but fill in a gap I think could be used which currently is not being used. The Forum.

So if you would like to see a 356 fourm on here, which I really hope starts to attract new 356 owners to be memebers of PCGB and still be part of other clubs then that would be great..

i am a 356 owner,
mine is in Boxes at the moment while the shell is being painted.

have to say so far i have no help or interest shown from the PCGB 356 register at all.

Really?

Oh ok... I'll help you unpack the boxes [:D]

I'd love to see a 356 area here, as long as we don't get a Pre-A verses 356B battle (a-la 964RS v GT3 )[;)]

Seriously. Would really like to see more 356 stuff on the forum [:)]

I was hoping with My project and Helens we could do a restoration type thing which will be different to what most other Porsches marks are on here.

Yes I agree we need to see some nice finished cars but I would liek to see a balance..

All this has got me back out in the garage and my welding tourch in hands already...

And yes that would be stupid about the Pre A v B's and C models....... I mean every one knows that , Pre A's are the only proper Porsches [;)]

Happy to help with this. I think it is important for PCGB to be SEEN to be supporting all types of Porsches, not just to say we do.

So an area on this Forum is important.

The more relevant content the better.

Well all this 356 talk has got me out in the work shop, should have done this in the summer really. But taken the brave step to remove the rear floor on the 54 on the pass side as it's not rusty but the metal is weak and with lots of bashing to get it back into shape it has high lighted some small cracks in the metal when a light is put under it..

Any one done a 356 floor before any tips esp in the area to the top right of this picture where there is three layers of metal and I only want to replace what you see in the picture.

Hats off to you for tackling that amount of work , hope you have a buddy to share the long hours with, I 'd be over there helping if I lived nearby, good luck , keep the pics coming.

No that's why it's take this long to do in spare time. All on me own..[8|]

I will get there. It's fun though. I took all the filler off last year and painted it in etch primer for the winter ( last ) and I have been getting all the underseal off. To save money , but if I had ÂŁ1000 to blow I could just get a cleaning company to blast it all off but money..

See my web site as it has the pictures of what I have done so far..

LOTS of filler was on the car and no real reason why??? Americans and their bondo you got to hand it to them they love it..

I know who did my 356 in the 70's with all that mixing of the filler

POPEYE!!!! he would need arms like that to do it all

Hi All

Yes I would like to see some 356 banter on the Forum.

Helen, you say "no help" from 356 RS, have you asked for any? I havn`t had any problems.

Have fun

Love your website I enjoyed reading that, it's quite a story, amazing that you can ship two cars undamaged from the other side of the world but when you get here some thoughtless nobhead damages them! I'll keep looking in there, are the pictures supposed to enlarge when you click on them or not? In my old browser they don't.

Cheers Bones no it's my very first proper web site I built and I am not a computer boff so I didn't know how to make them get bigger when you hover

So I made the pictures of a size that you could see what was going on. I now have had a better idea on how to build a web site, also I have the latest version that does so much more and when i get time in the new year I will rebuild the site... The responce from having the web site has been fab I get emails every week from people around the world who have Pre-A's in the work shops / garages that they have done nothing to them for years so they are about.

Yes two cars and no money quite a story , not sure if I woudl do that again but I am SO glad I did it.. life changing..

I have bought some 5 more cars from the US since incuding an Alfa spider which I sold as I only wanted it as a donkey to carry parts for me.. but since seeing the car at Tilbury docks before I dropped it off to the new owner I kinda have a liking for these and might buy on in the future..and I have helped with about 8-10 other cars and their owners get cars in..it's not that difficuilt.. I am now into a different game as the parts I needed where too big to ship or just to heavey to post so i buy a car I know I can sell or just line up a buyer and my deal is I just want my parts shipped in side the car...

Bones I am happy to use my resto web site with the club forum to show pictures of the resto as it will I am sure help others both now and in the future. It's about time I think this club has some tec data of a resto rather than yet another finished car ( which is still very nice to see ) so some forum Q/A's on some real issues like how do I do my 12volt converstion..how do I get my 356 brakes rebuilt.. step by step..

If you need a bit of a hand with the site let me know I 've built quite a few for various companies/individuals over the last few years. If want to link to a full size pic from a small one just link with.

Oh cheers I now have Dreamweaver 8 to play with and already I see a number of tasks I did before are much more easy to do now so I will when I get 5 have a re-design.. one thing I need to understand is Templates and If I ever need a hand it's 100% these then I feel I can get a uniform base for an easy to maintane web site..

I think it's a fantastic idea. The 356 Registry have an email forum set up that is extremely good when hunting for information. However it's on the wrong side of the pond when they talk about get togethers or swap meets etc.

Lets do it and make it a success.

Well done 912uk!

Steve

mark, i take it you've looked on the split window registry site, if not theres a car on there with a link to many photos of there restoration, very usefull. oh and i'm all for the 356 forum, just make sure you keep enough time to finish the preA for next year[8|]:ROFLMAO:

i've still got these engine bay padding patterns for you. i suppose theres plenty of time before there needed[;)]
