2017 Macan SD - Steering/Transmission Issue

Hi all,
This week my 2017 Macan SD developed a strange sound from the front when cornering/maneouvering at low speed. The best way to describe the sound is like a coin rattling around in a washing machine, not a constant rythmic tapping that you might expect from a rotating wheel, more random than that. Has anyone else experienced anything similar? Hoping I can narrow down the diagnosis before approaching a garage.

Has it suddenly developed or occurred gradually? Does it happen on one lock or both?
Could it be gravel lodged in a front calliper or wheel? Have you tried reversing to dislodge it.
Does it just happen when moving or can it be replicated when stationary?
Few things to consider when trying to narrow it down.
It could be something internally like a lack of hydraulic fluid or defective power steering pump, but it would be best to eliminate all the exterior factors first.
Regards,

Clive

Hi Lancerlot,
I first noticed it a few says ago. I can’t say I noticed a gradual occurrence. It seems to be when moving and the steering wheel can be at any position. I reverse park twice a day so I think anything stuck would have been dislodged by now. The ‘tumbling coin’ noise only happens when moving and seemingly only at slow speeds, I haven’t noticed it at higher speeds, say 25-30mph. The transfer box was replaced under warranty a couple of years back and it isn’t the same symptoms, I.e. no ‘wheel jump’ sensation. I’ll check fluid level later too.
Thanks 👍.
