Porsche Club Great Britain presents
PORSCHESHOP 10th Manx Tour 22nd to 25th May 2009

It started our as a challenge from the Manx Government in 1999 for PCGB to put an event on in the Isle of Man. We said that we could put 2 on in 2000 and 2001. Well it's now 2009 and we are still doing it. OK not as big as the 243 car turnout at the first event it is now a friendly group of like minded members made up of those who come every year, those who miss a few and return and new comers.

The Event
4 days in the Island including 3 nights at a top hotel. Most of your food is included in the basic price as is ferry crossing and accommodation.

A chance to explore one of the most stunning and surprising locations in Great Britain. The opportunity to drive your Porsche on superb mountain roads without being confined by speed limits.

An itinerary of events to keep you busy if do want to.

To book , go to www.porscheshop.co.uk and click on the Manx Tour logo to download a booking form. Alternatively you can contact me by email at r31@porscheclubgb.com .

ITINERARY

Date Friday 22nd May till Monday 25th May 2009

Friday Leave Liverpool by Seacat for Douglas at 10am arriving at Douglas about 10th Manx Tour Sponsored by PORSCHESHOP
12.30. After a short drive of 8 miles we reach the Mount Murray Hotel where we will be staying.
This is, for our purposes, the best hotel on the Island. It is a 4 Star establishment with very secure parking and full sports facilities including a 18 hole Golf Course.

Evening. There will be a wine and buffet reception and a driver briefing. For the briefing I will be assisted by a senior member of the Manx Police. The police are very supportive of our visits and assist with the organisation of the event.

Saturday Because of uncertainty of the Manx weather I have decided to run a "ËśDawn Raid' on the Saturday as well as the Sunday. Well you can't get too much of a good thing. So it's 6.30 am in the car park for a 7 am departure from the T.T. Grandstand.
The Dawn Raid is a fast but legal lap of the TT circuit under the control of our own marshals from Region 30.
The rest of Saturday is free time but we do have something new for you this year. We call it the "ËśManx Challenge'. Together with the Manx department of Tourism we have identified 6 places of interest. They are all places where entry is free but there is an opportunity to buy refreshments. If you visit 5 of these places and get a sticker from each you will qualify for a parchment certificate signed by our "ËśGuest of Honour',.

Sunday Another Dawn Raid, or not, as you wish, followed by a hearty breakfast ( I recommend the Manx Kippers) and at 11 am a return to the T,T. Grandstand for"¦

The aim of this event is to drive the T.T. Circuit at an average speed of 40mph.

Cars will set off from the Grandstand at 1 minute intervals. It is important that your Rally Plate is fixed in a way that the marshals can see it from the front..
Time clocks are set up at the start/finish point and marshals post and timing is based on these clocks.

All entrants who finish the course, calling at all Marshals check points, will receive a certificate. The 3 cars that come closest to the target speed will be awarded a trophy.

Evening. A Gala Dinner. The dress code is "ËśSmart'.
Monday Leave Douglas for Liverpool and Home. That is unless you have decided to extend your visit.

Of course the bikes can do it at 130 mph [:-]

Mike.
We play the Tony Pond video on a continuous loop at many of the Open Days.

The purpose of the T.T. Challenge is to average a particular speed in traffic conditions. It may not seem exciting but it is certainly challenging.

Last year the Manx Police set up a speed trap at Ramsey Hairpin. Region 30 set up a check point at May Hill. Inside information???[8|][8|][:D]

Geoff

Hi John

There is a briefing in the pit lane for the 'Dawn Raid' and I suggest that you catch up with me on Saturday Morning after breakfast and I can bring you up to date with the rest.

See you on Island.

Hi Geoff

We have been to the IOM a couple of years ago but would like to bring our 2 children this year.
Does the hotel offer a familly room and at what additional cost.

Regards

Mike

Geoff

Hi Geoff

R20 contingent now six cars , ten people, booked with potential for two more.
You mentioned possibility of a region table at the gala dinner. Not that we won't gregariously and enthusiastically mingle, it's just that our table manners leave a bit to be desired.

Regards

John

Needless to say, I have booked, This will be my 11th Manx Tour.. Ok, so this is the 10th Manx Tour, but what about the other 2? At least this year I will not be in a Mini or a Morgan, but in a proper car.... In the past I'm not sure what scared me the most: 180 mph in a GT3RSR with no brakes or 70 mph in the Morgan [:D] Actually I do: it was the Morgan.
