£250k Red RSL

No Paul, just an observer these days...wouldn't buy again at these prices just not worth the money in my eyes.

I sold my Maritime Clubsport and have never missed it so knew it was the right thing to do.

Interesting that I recall the reason you sold was because you realised that you had not driven the car much further than Silverstone and back in the previous year !

I did well over 15,000 Km during my tenure, and gained more and more confidence with the car as my experience built.

It takes time to get to know all "old" cars --- and they nearly all break-down if rarely used !!

QED, get out there in our cars [;)][;)]

I must say I'm shocked at this price level. I sold this very car only 1 year and 4 months ago. I had hardly any interest at all and sold it for 80k. People obviously happy to buy from high end dealers rather than me. That's a lot of money extra for the privilege of a plush show room and sales staff who have no idea if they're selling an original panel car or not, but guess buyers aren't bothered.

Paul, that is pretty much how I read the market. Of late, it appears buyers are lured in by ever increasing prices and seem far more interested in the yarn the dealer can spin them about potential future values.
There don't appear to be too many disclaimers shown as with other forms of investment!

I have also looked at 2 non RS 993 over the last year I was happy to walk away from, only to see them appear at strongly marketed classic car dealers soon after to sell almost immediately at much inflated prices. Fair enough that was never my plan for the cars anyway.

Thankfully the enthusiasm for these cars is not all about a quick £/$/€ , when this settles the more astute will be looking for decent cars with provenance.

The basic problem is I can no longer compete with the buying power of these other dealers. I currently have 2 RS for sale that I bought for stock and genuinely think I won't be able to buy anymore once they are gone. I offered to buy back the 993 RS I sold but couldn't compete with the other dealer bids with more buying power, bigger balls, plush facilities and VIP customer book.

Absolutely right Chris - I covered 600 miles in the last 12 months of ownership. I was doing a lot of driving for business at the time and simply didn't have the time or inclination to drive it. Ownership was great - had some great times, met some great people and it taught me rare car ownership was not for me as I am not precious about cars in the slightest! Have not missed the car one day....

The current market is like a spectator sport!! Very interesting Paul sold the exact car only 16 months ago for a third of the price and that other dealers are prepared to risk buying at much higher prices. The dealer who has this is only up the M6 from me and after 1 visit a year or so ago I won't be going back as the approach was 'pay a deposit and we can talk about the price to be paid'. The 993 is definitely not the stock they normally carry.
