Not saying it's the case here, but I've heard of alloy heads warping. Easy enough to tell, if the cams are already tight.HOW MUCH!!!!!
That’s a ridiculous amount of money for a simple job. Call Alastair at AMAC Engineering in Northallerton, North Yorks and tell him I sent you.
Get it skimmed 0.3mm so it’s level and stick a thicker Athena head gasket on there from Partbox to keep the timing right.
Machine shop is chatting absolute rubbish that it will bind the camshafts, the individual bearing caps set the tension on them.
Sounds a bit much to me.
Have a chat with my namesake David Knight at Knight Engine Services (near Northampton), a couple of the other members have used another machine shop as well near Newcastle.
