Looking for a 944S2 cylinder head

Have you tried Justin Webb at Waleswood Parts?

What’s wrong wth yours? - I’ve had good success with decent machine shops.

Thankyou for responding! Good suggestion I have reached out to Justin
My mechanic says it is out of true by 0.3mm and if we skim it may be touch and go whether we can torque it down enough to take the banana out sufficiently to not bind the cam shafts - plus he says finding a head would be less expensive.

That’s a ridiculous amount of money for a simple job. Call Alastair at AMAC Engineering in Northallerton, North Yorks and tell him I sent you.

Get it skimmed 0.3mm so it’s level and stick a thicker Athena head gasket on there from Partbox to keep the timing right.

Machine shop is chatting absolute rubbish that it will bind the camshafts, the individual bearing caps set the tension on them.

I am not speaking directly to the machine shop. So I guess I need to challenge my mechanic's report of 'machine shop' price. Now you have challenged me to interrogate here is what Copilot estimates: 1786210327564.png
... taking all the high side numbers and 16 valves = £1680.
 
Sounds a bit much to me.

Have a chat with my namesake David Knight at Knight Engine Services (near Northampton), a couple of the other members have used another machine shop as well near Newcastle.

Not saying it's the case here, but I've heard of alloy heads warping. Easy enough to tell, if the cams are already tight.
