Stop using vehicle recall on center locking 992s

still waiting to hear on the alternative transport, didn’t think I would buy a new 992 turbo and be driving my wife’s mini….. suspect the compensation will be extension of warranty or service or something non cash, as you say not a Great start to a new car.

They’re working on a cash package, according to Porsche UK. My car is brand new, so won’t need a service for two years or warranty extension for three, so those options aren’t applicable.

The bare minimum would have to be the amount the car depreciates per month, and the cost of any finance payments people may have.

I’m confident that Porsche are taking this very seriously, and will be looking after their customers.

It’s the production date that determines which cars are affected and by inputing the VIN here you can see if your car is affected. https://recall.porsche.com/prod/pag/vinrecalllookup_V3.nsf/VIN?ReadForm&c=greatbritain My Turbo S was built in May 2023 and not subject to the recall.
 
There is a chap on Rennlist who was on track when his centre lock decided to throw in the towel while he was on track

The date stamp on that brake disc is 45/2023 which is week commencing 6 November 2023 so right in the affected building date range.

Same here on the warranty and service items wouldn’t benefit me. I also dont have any loan or finance payments on the car so would expect something loss of use of asset related.

My 718 Spyder was just a year old with 1800 miles when a big end went "purple" necessitating a new crated engine that came with all ancillaries. Mine too didn't need a service or warranty extension and the best that I was offered for two months off the road was a £630 (or so, I cant remember exact figure) which was the then cost of one years warranty extension as a Porsche credit to be spent on line or in OPC. The new engine was only warranted till the car's third birthday, not for three years after installation..... I did get a Merc from Enterprise to use for two months.

If the OPC hasn't got adequate (inside?) storage and you have to keep your car at home, most insurance companies get charged £25? a day for storage by the recovery firm is something to think about....

My GT3 is affected, spoke to Porsche HQ today and they were very apologetic and sheepish about the whole thing. Mentioned compensation and to cover travel expenses etc if required. They said the local dealership would be in touch regarding a loan vehicle but couldn't promise it would be a Porsche but did say it would be of an equivalent standard by another manufacturer. Not sure what that could be! Mines in the garage and that's where its staying until they are ready to repair it. No way I would let them park it outside for 3 or 4 months with the risk of it getting pranged or worse. I mentioned about reimbursement for insurance, road fund duty, and depreciation and they didn't say no. I will wait and see what they come back with and what car they try and give me. Its already been back in for the rear glass to be changed on a recall and some other minor bits and pieces. Still a great car, it happens I suppose all manufacturers have issues its how they deal with it that matters.
 
I am in the process of buying a November 2023 TTS from an OPC. It has center locks and I asked the question last week and was assured it is not included in the recall.

For those that have been impacted, did the recall also appear on the porsche uk recall site? I did look last week and nothing was there however the site seems to be down all this week so cannot check a final time prior to transferring the balance tomorrow.

I would ask for the VIN and just check the recall portal on the porche website.

The difference between your situation is that your engine going was just a one off, so if you weren't happy with their offer, unless you instructed a lawyer, there wasn't any option other than to accept what they offered. In this situation, there are now thousands of affected owners across the world (a Pistonheads post is claiming 10,600 cars now affected!), so Porsche have got a lot of people to keep happy.

Storage costs/ depreciation while off the road/ insurance costs/ inconvenience are all things that need to be included in any offer that Porsche make to their customers. Let's see what they come up with.

Forgive my ignorance, but what's a TTS?
 
Why are you not filled with confidence ? , just a bad batch of CL fittings, And Porsche are going to replace them for you. And you get to use some one else car as a winter shitter when its salty , win win and get money back win again.
I 1/2 wish my car had the issue, but it's clear.
