I have OE sets of summer tyres/wheels and winter/wheels for my 992 C2.
The car is a September 2021 (MY 2022) and since purchase the wheels have been switched five times. Each time I have attempted to reset the TPMS it has failed, requiring me to return the car to the dealership which is tedious. (The wheels are “hotelled” at home).
I wrote the dealer and asked what technique they used to reset them. No one was able to help me.
Yesterday I took the car in and was assisted by the service manager. After two hours they discovered that they have to scan each wheel and associate it with the chassis number. Then release 5 psi and then refill with air. The reset procedure now works, until the next time. They say nothing of this in my manual.
Previously I have searched forums and spoken to many people without being any the wiser. Hopefully this with demystify the process for owners of many Porsche models which have the TPMS system.

Something must have changed then on model or years because we swap wheels around on 2013 and 16 981’s. You tell car via relevant screen, selecting size/winter/summer etc. it then re-learns after a while or if tpms not in wheels it just indicates an error (annoying when you know but don’t want it to keep reminding you)
What a pain….double check the most unread doc we all have….owners handbook, or is that now online only as well, or via App ….just noticed you said checked handbook, apologies.

As above. I just change the setting to 'winter' on the MFD in my 718 and back to summer when putting the summer tyres back on. a 2 minute drive sets the tpms.

I don't have any of this nonsense with my Macan otherwise I wouldn't bother! I get the set of wheels changed @ my local Pirelli performance centre, and then reset the type of tyre & wheel size in my PCM & drive off after a few miles it sees the different wheels & all is good.

Yes, read and reread the handbook. Checked everywhere. The tech (who knew the secret), must have left. No one in the dealership had any idea. At least I know what’s ahead of me now. A previous car was just through the screen, as per my handbook. Crazy

Angie there is a fault. I know how to reset. When I go from Winter wheel set to Summer wheels set TPMS reset works. When I reverse this it doesn’t. I’m so sick of this. Even the delete is puzzled. They have one tech who seems to know a secret. Both sets of wheels and tyres are OE.

I haven’t tried with my current 992 (2023) but regularly swapped the summers/winters on my previous 992 (2019) without any problems.

This has been driving me nuts since I bought the car new Sept 21 (22 model).The dealer can’t explain it.

I am in my local OPC tomorrow, I will ask the Service team if they have ever had any recent problems…..

The TPMS sensors should be checked to see if they are still working. The car is sensing the other wheels' sensors so logically...

I bought a set of TPMS for a bare wheel set and once mounted they were not recognised by the car. I bought a TPMS tester (OPC should have one) to test the ones on the wheels and the wheel units were dead. Image from good test.
