2017 FIA WEC 6 hours of Silverstone

News from the 2017 FIA World Endurance Championship 6 hours of Silverstone

A crisp but cold morning was soon shrugged off by the early arrivals at the Porsche Club GB infield parking for the FIA WEC 6 Hours of Silverstone with a steady stream of Porsches soon filling up the old Bridge circuit.

Porsche LMP1 started 3rd and 4th on the grid, with the new 991 RSR being driven by the works team 21st and 22nd. The power differential of the classes is very visible in the early laps as the LMP1 cars soon overtook the field, mixing things up. A slight shower caused drama for the lead Toyota which didn’t make it back onto the field after some front-end remodelling.

As with many endurance races, the result was down to the wire, with seconds between the lead cars. Toyota, reassured by their high-downforce choice were noticeably quicker around the circuit. A great day to be at the track and a perfect warm up for the Le Mans 24.
